We booked the Westbury for a special occasion expecting a 5-star hotel experience. Even allowing for reduced expectations because of Covid, we found it totally disappointing.
Firstly one of our expections was the availability of exercise facilities; in fact we would not have reserved had we known the gym was not available. We found the explanation - closed for renovations -- less than truthful because on first and later checks there did not seem to be any work going on. In fact the gym was simply "closed" indefinitely. Given this was the case, one would have expected some arrangements for or at least directions toward an external facility would be available. This was not the case.
Some of the dining facilities were closed, not unexpected in Covid times. However, the service at the ones that were open was substandard. The breakfast service was particularly frustrating, poor response from waiters for requests for items, having to raid adjoining tables for additional items. Similar experiences at the main restaurant on the ground floor (Balfes)
Room cleaning also substandard, waste basket not emptied, not cleaned until very late in the day.
