I stayed here in October and had such a beautiful experience that when my husband and I returned in May, I insisted we stay at the Zanzibar Locke. I don’t know if management has changed, but I was disappointed this time. I had requested early check in and I was not accommodated. In fact, the desk staff were insistent that we literally could not check in until 4 PM on the dot. It was ridiculous. When we finally checked in, we were given a room with a bathroom sink that backed up and we were over the front gate which banged all night long. The lights in the hallway coming out of our room were on a sensor and didn’t come on until we were more than halfway down the steps. It was a dangerous situation. And frankly, the staff was so uncooperative on check in that we didn’t want to say anything about the problems. It’s a shame. It’s a beautiful hotel, but I will not return.
