"Ours was a five night stay in The Old Paper Shop. Located on a busy road however night time noise was minimal. Once our car was parked we could walk everywhere for shopping, drinks at the pub and visiting the sites. Very comfortable bed and wonderful shower (great after a hard days walking). Kitchen was very well equipped. The key safe check in process was easy and efficient. Very much an old world charmer with lots of character, which was as I expected, cosy but perfect for two. "Brand new hotel in a convenient location - easy walking distance to the station and the cathedral. Parking arrangements in the nearby Forum multi-storey worked well. Staff especially helpful while getting used to the new facility themselves. Quality of food excellent both at breakfast and for all-day dining in the ground floor open plan restaurant. Prices above average but value for money in terms of quality. We came here for the Three Choirs Festival and were pleased to find a good quality hotel within easy distance to and from the Cathedral. We were given an accessible room with additional facilities to accommodate someone with mobility issues. 5 Stars all round."

"Unexpectedly an excellent nights sleep for a young family. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it was clean, well maintained, had very welcoming staff & Yorkshire tea in the rooms. The curtains were heavy black out, the windows kept the noise out, the mattress felt new and supportive & a fan was provided for the heat. My child slept & wasn’t woken up by daylight, traffic noise, the stifling heat or worries about cleanliness. Plus they could have a bath. Win."

"We stayed in a large refurbished room, comfortable bed, large bathroom super show and nice toiletries. The breakfast was lovely there could be a better bread choice selection and it gets busy and the staff are at full stretch but it didn't detract from their professionalism. We used the bus and if you plan and get the right ticket it works saves messing around looking for parking spots.Thoroughly recommend."

"Obviously it’s a great hotel but the staff went above and beyond. From the night receptionist when we pulled in on Friday night after a nightmare 7 hour drive, to the manager (I believe…) who rewarded our toddler’s politeness with a bubble blower toy, we couldn’t have had a more wonderful stay. We will absolutely be back, and soon!"

"Position of the property was excellent just opposite the park .room was good but could have done with a bit of an upgrade .We noticed a slit in the curtain and the sink plug wouldnt come back up if you pressed it down .Minor things but could easily be put right .Breakfast was good if you wanted a cooked breakfast but continental not alot of choice.We were able to park which made things better.Lovely stay enjoyed the live music but there could have been more .Staff very polite and helpful. Would not hesitate to stay again .Weather was hot and so glad of the air conditioning."

"A well located hotel in a very pleasant setting with extensive gardens at the rear with woods and golf course beyond. The public rooms were attractive and the staff were excellent, especially in the bar and restaurant. Plenty of parking spaces onsite. Breakfast was as good as expected held in a large attractive room overlooking the rear. The bedroom was in a more 'modern' wing to the side, facing the green space to the rear. Fine, but the decor requires updating. There was some noise from the floor above. but then one cannot account for other guests!"
