Nice hotel handy for the NEC

Posted 18-Apr-2017
We had a family room which Had plenty of space. The hotel staff were friendly & efficient. The hotel's own restaurant is expensive and we didn't eat dinner there but there are plenty of restaurants a few minutes walk away. Breakfast buffet was excellent.

Pros: Good food in the lounge. Miller's was ok, but not great.
Location: Located at NEC Birmingham, so it's great for convention activities. Rail line is there. Hilton has a free shuttle to and from the airport.
Received only one hand towel one day. Maid took away partially used shampoo and conditioner away (left new ones), but they are small for two people and why waste. Temperature was impossible to regulate. The UK keeps everything rather warm, so it would have been nice to have cooled it down a bit. I lowered the heat, but it didn't seem to do anything. All else was fine.

Ideal location

Posted 27-Mar-2017
I was taking my daughter to her first concert at the Genting Arena and decided to stay overnight in a hotel. I chose this hotel because it was close to the arena and it turned out to be ideal. Not the cheapest hotel I could have booked, but I didn't want to be wandering around the city centre at midnight with an 11 year old girl so this was well worth paying a bit extra for. We will definitely use this hotel again, I drove here and parked in the hotel car park and thought the £12 overnight fee was quite reasonable, you can pay extra to stay longer but we didn't need to. Our room was spotlessly clean and perfect for our needs

Budget hotel room at 5 star price

Posted 21-Mar-2017
Pros: Convenient for hotel conferences and NEC
Cons: Rooms - tired and in need of maintenance.
Location: NEC - easy to access.
Conference hotel which has a good conference centre but the bedroom was a standard size with a small bathroom in need of maintenance - loose taps and poor toilet flush. Budget hotel would have given the same facilities at a much better price.

I felt the room was very, very over priced for what it was. I had to chase up a member of bar staff 3 time to get my change. The rest of the staff very nice and frendly.

Disappointing staff attitude.

Posted 10-Mar-2017
Pros: location
Cons: Get
Location: Near the NEC but so are a lot of other hotels.
The hotel is what it is, not a patch on the USA Hiltons but is summed up in one small incident. I was at Crufts and wanted to have a shower. The shower in my room didn't work and this caused a certain amount of inconvenience for me. When I reported to reception the person just said. Thank you for reporting it. No word of apology or small token of compensation. I had too much to do to make a formal complaint. Can you imagine that happening in the USA. I actually din't want any compensation, just somebody to acknowledge that I had been inconvenienced and to show a small amount of concern, The other thing which was apparent from this person was the look of distaste on her face when I mentioned to her that this was a unique event with so many dogs in the hotel. The general attitude from this person was professional but unhelpful. To put it simply. Her 'attitude was showing'. not what you pay this sort of money for. It also looks like the place has very clunky IT systems. Check in queues were very long whilst the reception staff were switching between different screens and waiting for the system to respond.

Very convenient to NEC

Posted 27-Feb-2017
Nothing spectacular about room. Food at bar was nice. Buffet dinner was only fairly moderate. Didn't try a la carte but quite expensive to look at. Wine prices also very expensive. Breakfast was nice with plenty of choice. Positive thing was convenience to the NEC - less than 10 minutes walk.
