A nice room next to noisy lifts
The hotel was very nice, room 4053 looked very nice, it just happens to have the bed placed against a wall that joins onto the three main lifts, which made clanking noises all night long. The lifts are used constantly, because the stairs are kept hidden unless you search or ask, and are clearly intended for emergency use only.
I can't think why the hotel designers chose to put the top of the bed next to the wall by the lifts. Surely it would be better to put the bathroom there, and the bed as far away as possible?
The hotel was particularly busy that night. I imagine they don't assign that room if they they have others available.
Overall it was a shame - a night staying at the Hilton should be a great experience, and instead I was wishing I was back in the previous nights much cheaper room at the Days Inn Stafford by the side of the M6.
