Lift issues.

Posted 29-Aug-2015
Pros: The restaurant staff were excellent. Helpful, considerate, nothing was too much bother.
Cons: Food prices, and lift reliability! A small bowl of chips was £4:50. No drink cost less than £5. The lifts broke down constantly.
Location: Easy access to the NEC, if you have a conference there, it would be very handy.
As a disabled person I rely heavily on the usage of lifts, so when at least 1 out of 3 lifts is constantly out of order, this does not inspire trust or confidence; especially as the problem lift changed each and every time we went to use them. Also, there was no way of requesting a disabled friendly room. Add to this people chatting (loudly) in the adjoining room until gone 2:30 a.m. and you end up with a rather disappointing stay. On the plus side, the breakfast was well worth spending the extra for, as the staff were polite, friendly and helpful, and the food was good. Although the setup was for buffet service, the staff were more than willing to fetch things on my behalf. Unless someone else is paying for your stay, eat out elsewhere of an evening; you will have to drive out of the complex though. Parking rates were very high, and the parking spaces tiny.

Close to the airport with shuttle service

Posted 24-Aug-2015
Pros: nice swimming pool, good for meetings
Cons: bigger room sizes for single person
Location: Visit Birmingham by train and shuttle, otherwise close to airport. Nothing really to do.
Surprised of the small room size . But is was very accommodating and functional.

Handy for NEC

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: Comfortable convenient
Cons: Better dinner reception.
Easy to find NEC from hotel , not so easy to find hotel from NEC. Food good, but restaurant staff at dinner not so brilliant - we were not told about buffet arrangement and serving ourselves. Why do we have to pay service charge to serve ourselves? Breakfast staff were much better.

Stay with my 4 year old granddaughter

Posted 09-Aug-2015
Pros: The caring and considerate staff.
Cons: Check-in was a little slow.
We had a fabulous time. My granddaughter was well looked after by all the staff and loved her big bed and personal toiletries. We took room service. The chef made her dinner specially and followed up with a call to ensure that all was satisfactory.

Overview

Posted 08-Aug-2015
Pros: The fun part was the swimming pool. Breakfast in the executive lounge was good too, as well as the IT access.
Cons: The bathroom!
Location: ok.
We stayed in one of the Executive family rooms which was not spacious. Bathroom was smelly and stained maple was disgusting for such a hotel. Not enough towels and drinking glasses was placed for the number of people booked for room. Was generally disappointing. I think it is over prized, unless they improve the cleanliness of the bathroom and refurbish the bathroom - looked quite old. Personally, I would not want to pay that much for this same room or experience. Price did not match the provision. Disappointed customer.

Broken bed

Posted 02-Aug-2015
I had to sleep on the floor because bed base was broken and matress springs was poking my back. Got a refund but no compensation for a ruined family holiday.

Room looked tired

Posted 29-Jul-2015
Busy hotel. Service in the bar for meals and drinks was slow and we waited 20 minutes for our order to be taken. Communal areas well presented but I felt the decor of the room was a little tired looking and in need of modernisation as not to the standard I have experienced at other Hilton hotels.

Second visit, first time staying

Posted 21-Jul-2015
Overall the hotel is very nice, however for the comfort of the bedroom and price of a nights stay it is a little expensive. The street food that was on during the convention was very nice, and should be made more available for the guests.

Good hotel for NEC

Posted 14-Jul-2015
Pros: The location to the NEC.
Cons: We went to an evening event in the NEC. The bar in the hotel got very very busy and they did not have the staff to cope or for food.
Location: Nothing near by. Close to airport.
We choose this hotel for the location to the NEC Birmingham. You can walk through the hotel and then through the hotel gardens to the entrance of NEC. 10 mins walk. The hotel staff were good and helpful . Check in time is 3pm but we arrived about 1.15pm and had no problem getting a room, which was just as well as 3pm they were queuing out the door! Concierge were very helpful and let us park the car in the car park right outside as I have difficulty in walking. On checkout you can pay for the car park or pay at the concierge desk.

Near to the airport the only good thing

Posted 12-Jul-2015
Pros: N/A
Cons: See review above
Location: Near to airport
Check in was good. Room was not what we expected, toilet flush handle had to be manually returned, heating controls did not work. Bar staff liked to chat a lot between themselves, and when you ordered a drink seemed to to be put out having to serve you (tried to serve me a beer in a wine glass!). We were told that we could be served from our table in the bar area yet after returning to the bar area and waiting 20 minutes for service decided to go to the restaurant. Menu limited, salad came with a dressing which was not stated on the menu and yes served my Leffe beer in a wine glass. We will not be staying there again. Very disappointing
