A nice room next to noisy lifts

Posted 29-Nov-2016
Pros: comfy bed, very clean, good shower etc.
Cons: Warn customers if they are booking a noisy room, or just think ahead when building rooms next to the lifts and put the bed as far away as possible.
Location: It's by the airport, the NEC and Birmingham International Station, very handy if you are going to, or coming from the NEC, as I was.
The hotel was very nice, room 4053 looked very nice, it just happens to have the bed placed against a wall that joins onto the three main lifts, which made clanking noises all night long. The lifts are used constantly, because the stairs are kept hidden unless you search or ask, and are clearly intended for emergency use only. I can't think why the hotel designers chose to put the top of the bed next to the wall by the lifts. Surely it would be better to put the bathroom there, and the bed as far away as possible? The hotel was particularly busy that night. I imagine they don't assign that room if they they have others available. Overall it was a shame - a night staying at the Hilton should be a great experience, and instead I was wishing I was back in the previous nights much cheaper room at the Days Inn Stafford by the side of the M6.

Relaxing environment

Posted 07-Nov-2016
Location: Close by the NEC with all that implies - lots to do. Parking is bit costly though.
I had a great stay. The staff in all areas of the hotel are friendly and helpful. My room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The facilities were excellent: I used the pool, sauna etc; all very clean and pleasant. Restaurants are excellent. Overall good value for money.

Good Hotel Near NEC in Birmingham

Posted 01-Nov-2016
I had a single room that was perfectly satisfactory -- if a bit far from the center of things in the hotel. It was located over the meeting area in the hotel, and there were loud awards ceremonies both nights that I was in the hotel. The only real negative was that if I wanted anything from the lobby area then there was a significant walk back across the hotel and through the revelers to get it. As I was traveling on business and needed the evening to do some work for our office back in the USA, the noise was a bit distracting. Still, I would stay here again and just push a bit harder for a room in another area of the hotel. I will add that the Housekeeping staff was excellent!

Great venue for the NEC

Posted 29-Oct-2016
Pros: Breakfast included in price was very good. Lots of choice.
Cons: Parking charge was a surprise, as thought that should have been included in the price for guests
Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable.

Lovely hotel, staff helpful and good food

Posted 26-Oct-2016
Pros: Swimming pool was amazing, staff were very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Room floor very marked, lightening could be better and teaspoons not washed in the room. I didn't like the way you could just smoke outside the hotel as you couldnt get in or out without difficulty. Butts all over the floor and not a good impression of the hotel upon arrival.
Location: Great location for NEC, very quiet despite the size of the hotel, lovely lake views.

Expedia bookings not given best rooms

Posted 24-Oct-2016
Pros: helpful reception who moved us when we discovered our room was right behind the lifts and each and every lift movement was loudly heard in our room such that we asked to be moved. The room was also a disabled room and as such the bathroom was not quite what we expected. We were moved to a twin room, albeit we had booked a double but hotel was full and twins were better than lifts
Cons: first room we were allocated was a disabled room and the bathroom not as we would have hoped for. We were also directly behind the lifts and the noise was constant and loud. When we asked reception to move us the only room available was a twin which was better than the noise.Reception stated that as it was an Expedia booking we were given only the rooms that were left after the other bookings, so basically not priority guests at all.
Location: excellent location for NEC
