Very child friendly hotel

Posted 16-Jan-2017
Every single member of staff we encountered were so pleasant to my 4 year old and 5 month old. They did all they could to make them smile, from a colouring book to a 'high five' it all helps to making you feel at ease about taking small children to a hotel. Could not fault the staff.

Great, convenient hotel.

Nice, clean hotel with friendly staff. I was attending a seminar in the hotel and it was the perfect place to stay. The breakfast was good, Miller's Restaurant was excellent as well.

Convenient location but horrible overpriced room

Posted 04-Dec-2016
I always thought Hiltons were meant to be quite swish and the price indicated it was a decent hotel. Our room was ugly with dark brown colours and very dated. The bathroom was built for disabled access so the shower came with a seat and little door - this was fine but the actual shower head could only go as high as around 5ft which isn't very enjoyable when you're taller and it was low pressure. The toiletries were very small so didn't suffice for the two guests using them. I think it's unfair that we pay for the room then the parking and breakfast is an additional charge! The staff were faultless - the downstairs lobby was nice and the staff always friendly and helpful but I expected more comfort and style in the room with a decent bathroom.

A nice room next to noisy lifts

Posted 29-Nov-2016
Pros: comfy bed, very clean, good shower etc.
Cons: Warn customers if they are booking a noisy room, or just think ahead when building rooms next to the lifts and put the bed as far away as possible.
Location: It's by the airport, the NEC and Birmingham International Station, very handy if you are going to, or coming from the NEC, as I was.
The hotel was very nice, room 4053 looked very nice, it just happens to have the bed placed against a wall that joins onto the three main lifts, which made clanking noises all night long. The lifts are used constantly, because the stairs are kept hidden unless you search or ask, and are clearly intended for emergency use only. I can't think why the hotel designers chose to put the top of the bed next to the wall by the lifts. Surely it would be better to put the bathroom there, and the bed as far away as possible? The hotel was particularly busy that night. I imagine they don't assign that room if they they have others available. Overall it was a shame - a night staying at the Hilton should be a great experience, and instead I was wishing I was back in the previous nights much cheaper room at the Days Inn Stafford by the side of the M6.

Relaxing environment

Posted 07-Nov-2016
Location: Close by the NEC with all that implies - lots to do. Parking is bit costly though.
I had a great stay. The staff in all areas of the hotel are friendly and helpful. My room was spacious, comfortable and quiet. The facilities were excellent: I used the pool, sauna etc; all very clean and pleasant. Restaurants are excellent. Overall good value for money.

Good Hotel Near NEC in Birmingham

Posted 01-Nov-2016
I had a single room that was perfectly satisfactory -- if a bit far from the center of things in the hotel. It was located over the meeting area in the hotel, and there were loud awards ceremonies both nights that I was in the hotel. The only real negative was that if I wanted anything from the lobby area then there was a significant walk back across the hotel and through the revelers to get it. As I was traveling on business and needed the evening to do some work for our office back in the USA, the noise was a bit distracting. Still, I would stay here again and just push a bit harder for a room in another area of the hotel. I will add that the Housekeeping staff was excellent!

Great venue for the NEC

Posted 29-Oct-2016
Pros: Breakfast included in price was very good. Lots of choice.
Cons: Parking charge was a surprise, as thought that should have been included in the price for guests
Room was spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable.
