"It's a shame that there are some downsides to the cottage, otherwise it would be the ideal place to stay. It has a reasonable kitchen, a lounge area big enough for two, a nice bathroom and shower, convenient parking right outside for one car and a very effective towel rail, although to make it work, the entire heating system had to be on, and with no thermostat in the bedroom (during my stay), it soon became far too hot.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few shortcomings; there was no shaver...

"The whole hotel was spotless. The rooms were quiet, I slept very well, and the food was amazing. We were visiting from Houston, Texas, and would definitely like to visit again. "

Mount Snowdon lies at the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, an area of unspoiled natural beauty in Central Wales. At 3,560 feet, it is the tallest mountain in Wales and the tallest in the UK outside the Scottish Highlands. The range of routes leading to the higher reaches of the mountain, however, makes it a firm favourite with families and you don’t have to be an expert climber or hiker to access some of the most stunning views in the UK.
Explore the great outdoors at Moel Tryfan and enjoy the mountain views during your trip to Betws Garmon. Visit the top-notch restaurants or lively bars in this quaint area.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious athough it was located at the back of the Inn across a beer barrel storage area. The Welsh Breakfast was excellent. The car park was very convenient, as was the situation of the Black Boy.

Great base for walking the Llanberis path up Snowden. The hosts were extremely welcoming, warm, and knowledgable about the local area. A selection of teas and coffee are available in the lounge area which felt much needed after the climb! Room was clean and well maintained. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely recommend :)

The hotel is a sizeable place, nicely decorated and the grounds are well maintained.
Website pictures of the rooms are generous... but no complaints.
Everywhere clean and tidy, room was comfortable (albeit a wee bit smaller than expected), parking was safe & easy and breakfast delicious.
Location is excellent. Beautiful part of the world.
The £97 for a nights stay with breakfast inc was good value, and we would definitely stay again.

My husband booked 3 nights here as a birthday treat - and it exceeded my expectations. Both our bedroom and the public spaces were lovely, the food was excellent and the service was exceptional. We will definitely be back!!

We (2 couples) stayed in Ty'n Rhos Country House for the Easter weekend and decided to also stay for dinner 2 out of 3 nights. We were amazed by the comfort, service, and quality. The location was great, an easy drive to the nearby castles, Snowdon railway, and other historical sites. We took the train from London to Bangor and hired a car there. Hotel staff went over and above to cater for all our needs (e.g. finding car rental, food allergies). Even though we weren't lucky with the weather...

Wonderful stay! Accommodation was very clean, well equipped and lovely and warm after a day walking in the rain! Food was great and staff very attentive. Wonderful views, very peaceful and the cabana was a bit different which the kids loved especially going up the ladder to bed.

Booked 2 family rooms for 8 people. Both rooms were a good size with ensuite facilities - one with an adjoining room for the children; the other with a bunk bed - very clean. Tea/coffee/biscuits/kettle in room. Rural setting, but easy to find. Delicious breakfast served 7.30-9 (traditional cooked breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, tea/coffee/juice). Proprietor very accommodating to additional requests. Family lounge on ground floor great for the evening with children (TV/games...

Booked this last minute and were so happy we did. Location is magnificent and with views to die for. We stayed in the cottage which was just perfect for us. Had a fully equipped kitchen that we did not use as we were only for only one night but perfect for anyone staying longer and with small children We chose to eat dinner in the restaurant and are real foodies and love fine dining. Little disappointed with the overall experience. Food prep and quality could be stepped up a notch. ...

Lovely hotel. Our room was in The Town House. It was large and had everything you need. Comfy bed, lots of sockets, big bathroom with good shower. Breakfast was lovely with lots of choice. Friendly staff. No parking at the hotel but that wasn’t a problem as there is a big car park a short walk away which only cost £6 for 24hours. Would definitely stay there again.

The best areas to stay in Betws Garmon are the village itself for a rural Welsh experience, or nearby Caernarfon for more amenities and historical sights.
Betws Garmon village is tucked away in the Nant y Betws valley, offering a truly tranquil setting. It's surrounded by impressive mountains and features the Afon Gwyrfai river running through it. This area is great for those seeking a quiet retreat and direct access to walking trails into the Snowdonia National Park. You'll find a few local guesthouses and holiday cottages here, providing a cosy base for exploring the natural beauty.
For those who appreciate having more dining options and historical attractions close by, Caernarfon is an excellent choice, just a short drive from Betws Garmon. The town is dominated by its impressive 13th-century castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is well worth exploring. The waterfront area and the historic town centre offer a good selection of restaurants, pubs, and shops.
Couples looking for a peaceful escape will find Betws Garmon village ideal. It offers a romantic setting with opportunities for scenic walks and enjoying the natural landscape without the distractions of a busier town.
Families, particularly those with older children interested in history, will appreciate Caernarfon.
When is the best time to go to Betws Garmon?
The best time to go to Betws Garmon is typically during the late spring, summer, and early autumn months, from May to October.
These months offer the most agreeable weather for exploring the area's natural beauty. You'll find warmer temperatures and longer daylight hours, which are ideal for hiking, cycling, and enjoying the outdoors. The lush green landscapes are at their peak, and the chances of clear skies for mountain views are higher.
For those keen on outdoor activities like hiking in Snowdonia National Park or exploring the local trails, July and August are prime months. While these months can be busier, the extended daylight allows for longer excursions and better conditions for enjoying the stunning scenery around places like Llyn Cwellyn.
If you prefer to avoid the peak crowds but still want good weather, May, June, September, and October are excellent choices. The weather is often still mild and pleasant, and the natural colours of the landscape, especially in autumn, are particularly striking.
