Windsor Great Park was once part of a huge Norman hunting forest and is now 2020 hectares of ancient woodland, exotic gardens and sweeping parkland. Stroll down the Long Walk toward Windsor Castle or stumble across the Totem Pole, gifted to the Queen in 1958 by the people of Canada. Elsewhere, Wellington Country Park near Reading is a magnificent country park with 350 acres of woodlands, nature trails and a lake. There's plenty of adventure and play areas for young children, an animal farm and even a human snakes and ladders game to be played on the hill.
