When I arrived. I was a bit put off with the 5:30 check in. Taxi getting lost and I was grumpy.
Coming from the city of Taipei. I was use to all the city's conveniences. Now driving an hour to the hot springs town of Beitou I was expecting zen and tranquility. Arriving to the hotel, the staff were really apologetic about the late check in ( which was stated- not a surprise). The manager did her best to put me into a room immediately once she found out I was not feeling well. She even arranged a massage for me per my request.
Arriving into my room, I was not happy initially because it was dark and had no windows. Again, I was grumpy. The hot tub was amazing! It was big and the temparature was perfect. It took all my grumps away. And hour later my massage lady came and omg, she was amazing!!!!!!! Best massage in all of Taiwan.
Now it's dinner time. After a massage and feeling sick with rain threatening. I was so not in the mood in going out. But I yelped and found a local restaurant that looked amazing. I went down the the lobby to ask for directions and asked if the front desk lady to order for me for a pick up since my mandarin is crap. I only had $700 left to my name and I told her that. Man, not only she ordered my food, she talked them down in price and had it delivered!!!!!! It was the best meal ever. She came to my room with the food and necessary utensils. I gave her all my money and more USD.
Awesome hotel. Spectacular staff and hot tub. Will definitely return.
Great place for private hot spring as the bath tub is quite big. 5 mins walk to all the beitou library and 8 mins walk to metro.
The bath room shower head a bit rusty not sure is due to the hot spring. The stuff are all very friendly. Overall recommended for people who like privacy.
Very modern and nicely decorate rooms.
High tech furnishing (huge Sony TV).
Free mini-bar (only replenishments need $).
Huge mirror in room, making it look bigger.
Nice view (of houses downhill).
In-house hot springs (indoors and outdoors).
Steam room and sauna.
Personal bathtub with spring water.
Comfortable bed and pillows.
3-5 minute walk to the MRT/city centre/park (there is a hidden staircase just further down the hill).
Very expensive compared to hotels around the area.
Nothing beside/near the hotel to do/see/eat.
As we arrive at the hotel via taxi, our doors are swiftly opened by the doormen and our luggage unloaded quickly. Check-in was easy as the lady we dealt with could converse well in English; was given only one key (old style) for the room. The lobby isn't a very large area with only a few lounges and I believe a tourist desk. There is a small flight of steps up from lobby to the elevator whereby the doormen assist you with the luggage but after that you're on your own. The hotel isn't huge with only 5 levels (if I recall correctly) and a couple of very slow lifts servicing the complex (we took stairs most of the time). Our room 315 was clean, 2 single beds and a hot springs tub in the bathroom (loved that!) and had views over the garden. Due to the sulphuric hot spring water from the bathroom the room does have a constant lingering smell, however is bearable. Noticed a lot of rusting in the bathroom and we think house keeping could do better with the cleaning/maintenance. There are about 10 different outdoor hot springs pools for guests to enjoy; generally clean and tidy; yes you will find leaves and small bugs occasionally but that happens with outdoor pools! We ate at both restaurants and highly recommend the Japanese restaurant (unsure of the name but there's only 1). We didn't enjoy the dinner at the Chinese restaurant. We called front desk on a few times and they always answered on first ring, very polite and requests met immediately - very good service! We shall be back!
The hotel is situated very close to the New Beitou MRT station, and the facilities looks very new. The room is very clean and spacious. The bed and pillows are ultra comfortable, so much so that my partner and I gave up our day plans to laze on the bed. The hot spring water is piped into the room, so that we can enjoy it from the privacy of our room.
One of the best hotels I have stayed in and we will definitely go back again.
Taipei's mountainous district to the north, Beitou is famous for the hot springs that flow from its many geothermal vents. Its rejuvenating spas and resorts are just 20 min from the city center on the MRT Red Line. Visit in spring to explore an extinct volcano swathed in cherry blossoms and steam in Yangmingshan National Park, or try the public springs near the Hot Spring Museum, open year round.
