BBQ with family

Posted 29-Jul-2018
Pros: Not much
Cons: Total revamp
Location: Location was good for what we were doing. Did not look at things to do in the area
Stayed 1 night but found the hotel to. The room was small, basic and not as clean as I would have wished. The price was expensive and did not include breakfast. Would I recommend a friend? NO. Would I stay again? NO

A great room but a little noisy from road traffic as it was at the front of the hotel. The car park was tight parking but overall a good place to stay. We are back again soon.

Excellent room-only value, although I did not expect the room to be in a separate building - confirmation had said 'courtyard view' which turned out to be in reality of the High Street, with shouty local youth congregating outside and someone nearby having band practice every evening. Good food available in the hotel proper, and the main hotel staff excellent. 9 drawers, but all too small to be of much practical use. Would benefit from a chest-of-drawers and a proper chair, the one provided was too laid-back to work on papers from, and not armchair enough to relax in.

Great hotel and location. Staff very friendly, good menu/bar service. Only comment would be - shame it hasn't got a beer garden, but apart from that excellent hotel.

Quality reflective of the price

Posted 01-May-2018
I stayed here with my husband as we were attending a wedding at Mythe barn which is less than 2 miles away which was very convenient. Free parking was advertised with the hotel, however due to how busy they were, their carpark was completely full. We were advised to park in a public carp park that was a few minutes walk away. Luckily it was also free on the weekend but this was slightly inconvenient. On entering the lobby/bar/restaurant area to get to reception, there was a distinct dirty mop smell to go with the dated decor. It wasn't very appealing. Check in was quick but lukewarm. On entering the room, the first thing I noticed was a crack in the window, a few marks on the carpet and on the walls. The bathroom seemed relatively clean and there were some toiletries to use which I wasn't expecting. There was only 1 bath sheet which was rectified efficiently on request. Overall I'd describe the visit as ok. The rooms need some TLC and I didn't leave a good impression. I won't be rushing back.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially for a larger group that was there two nights. Lounge was very comfortable.
