Stayed at the lodges recently, before travelling I rang to check all was in place for our visit. We booked a Spa because we could use the pool with our children (ages 8&9). During the call I asked about any pool restrictions and I was disappointed to find that the use of the pool which was advertised as complimentary were in fact not free and it would cost us £30 per person per day to swim for a maximum of two hours as the pool is only open to children between 7:30 and 9:30 am. Seems they have a similar approach to Children as the town in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
We raised this with the booking agent and they tried to negotiate with the hotel but they would not budge .
We arrived and then we found out we could only have a half hour slot , so £120 for a half hour family swim !
The booking agent agreed to cover all costs for the three day stay, however we did not believe it was the right thing to do for moral reasons . Clearly this hotel is trying to maximise every profit opportunity to raise revenue.
They also skimp on safety as non of the electrical appliances in the lodge have been tested since 2018 , and all the fire doors were wedged open , so maximising on profit and skimping on safety
Rural Retreats who we booked with were great
