Holiday Travel Guide

Restaurants backing onto this popular beach set up tables and stands on the sand so you can dine with accompaniment from the soothing sounds of the sea.

Bordered by a cobbled seaside walkway, Al-Hafayer Beach is one of the main strands in Aqaba. This busy and dynamic beach features a variety of restaurants and stalls, giving off a lively atmosphere that will help you appreciate the local ambiance. Rest with a book in the shade of a thatched hut or palm tree and watch people go by.

Go for a swim with your family in the warm and clear water of the Red Sea. Pedal boats and kayaks are available to rent on the beach. Take a tour of the bay on a glass-bottom boat or rent a sailboat for the afternoon. Blue-green steps line the rear of the beach, providing an ideal spot to sit and enjoy the picturesque scenery.

Walk out on the long wooden pier and look back on the beach and the surrounding attractions. Enjoy the views of the mountains forming the backdrop to the rows of palm trees. In the distance, you can spot the deluxe hotels of Eilat in Israel.

Dine on seafood and delicious Middle Eastern specialties at the charming restaurants along the boardwalk straddling the stretch of sand. The restaurants have tables and chairs spilling out onto the beach, with glowing strings of lights that illuminate their separate sections. Invite your partner for a romantic meal near the water at night.

In the afternoon, relax in a traditional café and browse the souvenirs for sale in the shops. Walk past the vegetable farms tended by locals and purchase snacks from vendors.

Al-Hafayer Beach is beside its namesake park in the southwestern corner of Aqaba’s city center. The beach is a short walk south along the coast from the Arab Revolt Flagpole Plaza. While here, stop off at other neighboring attractions such as the Aqaba Museum, Al-Ghandour Beach and Princess Salma Park.
