Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, offers all the virtues of the Mediterranean: beautiful beaches, incredible coves, green mountains and a great atmosphere for all kinds of visitor, from those looking for peace and quiet to those who want a little more adventure.
The island of Majorca has been inhabited for more than five millennia. Its extensive history is reflected in several archaeological sites, as well as the archaeological remnants from its age of glory under Moorish rule and spectacular Christian buildings.
The Cathedral, a temple that is often captured as a reflection in the water, is perhaps the most emblematic image of the island's capital, Palma de Mallorca. However, you mustn't forget its surrounding back-streets and the majestic Castillo de Bellver, perched over the bay of Palma.
If you book an offer of flight + hotel to Majorca, you'll instantly discover why it has been dubbed the island of calm: enjoy the sun and snorkel among the banks of fish in crystal-clear water, or take the picturesque Sóller train line that been running uninterrupted from the capital to the port of Sóller since 1912. If you also like to taste the local cuisine on your travels, don't forget to try the delicious ensaimada, a typical Majorcan pastry, or frito mallorquín, the paradigm of the Mediterranean diet.
On Majorca holidays, nature also plays a major part: the Drach caves hide a large underground lake and the Serra de Tramontana mountain range, which runs across the north of the island, has beautiful valleys and villages, such as Valldemossa. Furthermore, the views at Cap de Formentor near Pollença on the opposite end of Majorca are a delight for the eyes.
You can reach Majorca by ferry from mainland Spain or fly direct to Palma de Mallorca airport. Although there is public transport between the main towns, it is a good idea to hire a car to move around the island.
Take advantage of low-cost Majorca holidays to visit this island for a few days and leave your worries behind. You won't regret it!

This property was right on the bay close to some great shops and eateries. The decor was very impressive and the hotel was clean. There was considerable construction going on though. We would definitely return here.
