Holiday Inn Salisbury - Stonehenge

"Perfect hotel when visiting Stonehenge"
The hotel is in between Stonehenge and Salisbury. You will need a car to get to it, but you will also need one to see Stonehenge and Salisbury. Renting a car was a great idea, it let us see all the great places around Stonehenge, including the beautiful cathedral of Salisbury. The hotel room was very clean and comfortable and it has free wifi. There are a few places to eat right around the hotel that are walk distance.

Stonehenge Cottages

"3 nights in Stonehenge Cottages"
We stayed for three nights in the Studio - it was very comfortable, new, clean and tastefully furnished. The hosts, Steve and Hazel, were extremely helpful and friendly. The accommodation is directly opposite a lovely gastro pub, The Wheatsheaf - which serves delicious food. The surrounding countryside is beautiful for cycling and walking. Salisbury itself is a lovely city and the cathedral is a must see. There is a four mile walk directly from the accommodation - The Woodford Walk - which is most enjoyable with some splendid views. The Studio might be a considered a little 'bijou' by some for an extended stay though we coped fine! However, we were shown around the Cottage which adjoins the Studio - which is also a very attractive larger property and we will definitely be returning in the future to stay in either property.

"OK for 1 night"
Staff were very chirpy and polite, clean room . We had to make the beds ourselves. It would have been nice to have a chair to sit on in the room, as we had 2 bunk beds there was no where to sit other than under the bunk, very clostrophobic - there was room for a couple of chairs in the room. All in all ok but I would not have wanted to stay more than one night..

The Chapter House

9-13 St John's Street, Salisbury - Map

"A beautiful, quirky, hotel with great facilities"
I'll be totally honest, I booked The Chapter House as a last minute getaway over the Valentines weekend and most of the other hotels I looked at were fully booked. I hadn't even considered Salisbury as a destination and some of the reviews prior to the refurb/new management were less than favourable but I followed my intuition, only read recent reviews, and kept everything crossed.... Wow! First impressions were excellent. The restaurant is very impressive with a stunning mix of contemporary lighting and furniture seamlessly fused into the 800 year old building's open framework of timber beams. Our room (#14) was a few floors up, at the front of the hotel. The climb wasn't for the faint of heart and provided plenty of giggles - part fun-house and part Escher sketch, the distorted stairs and floors were always ready to play a trick (why does it feel like I'm climbing the stairs while I walk down them?). Our room was lovely. The large bed was very comfortable, the room cozy but not claustrophobic, the en-suite large and airy. Plenty of teas and coffee were provided with a kettle and still and fizzy water. The decor was modern but made no effort to hide the buildings history...the large oak beam across the alcove provided several reminders to my head during the stay. The included breakfast was delicious. I'm veggie so stuck with the granola and eggs florentine (poached, spinach, brioche, hollandaise) - the full english was also very good apparently.

"Newly Renovated and Friendly Hosts"
We felt this was one of the best B and B's we stayed in on our recent trip. Kay and Steve are friendly and helpful, and the food they prepared was great. The whole place has been recently renovated. The room was comfortable and had an en suite bath. It is also 20 minutes or so from Stonehenge and one of the Magna Carta sites: Salisbury Cathedral.

"A little gem in Salisbury"
We received a very warm welcome at this gorgeous B&B. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble for our amiable host - including arranging for an earlier-than-usual breakfast due to our early departure when we checked out. The room was beautifully appointed with lots of lovely little touches. We wanted for nothing and other B&Bs could learn a lot from this place!
