"Peaceful English countryside"
This country manor house was converted to B&B about 14 years ago, if memory serves. During our 2 week vacation in England and France, this was our favorite hotel. It is situated about 2 miles west of Wilton, a lovely small town that is also worth your time to explore. The hotel property is a working farm of about 1,300 acres, so there is absolutely nothing to interrupt the peace and tranquility that is found in abundance. We took a long walk up alongside the cultivated fields of peas and rapeseed, and were able to clearly see Salisbury Cathedral, which is about 6 miles away to the east.
As we had just arrived at Heathrow earlier in the day, Wendy welcomed us and got us situated in our large upstairs bedroom overlooking the lawn and garden. This is our idea of what an English country manor home should look and feel like. It's not modern or flashy, but has everything one needs to relax and enjoy. I think there are only 4 guest rooms, so don't worry about feeling crowded.
Wendy's breakfasts were magnificent, with all the eggs, mushrooms, sausages, ham, tomatoes, toast, fruit, cereal, toast, jams, tea, coffee...We were not hungry again until the late afternoon. She was also extremely helpful with tips and directions on local banks, restaurants, pubs, stores, etc. Plus, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the other 2 to 4 guests over breakfast. We were all seated around a huge dining room table.
Yes, we'll definitely go back one of these days.
