"As long as you go with realistic expectations you will be ok at the Lucarelli. We received a great welcome and we had a good nights sleep. The room was basic definitely no-frills but the TV gave good service, and all we needed was a stopover on a long journey. We were too tired to dine in the restaurant but I know from previous visits that the food and service is really good. It was certainly busy last night which is a good sign."

"Susan is an excellent host. Unobtrusive, but there when needed and nothing is too much trouble. She also provides an excellent and varied breakfast. Although in the middle of the village, the property is private and secure. Our room was comfortable and lacked nothing. It was also warm as the temperature dropped below freezing outside. "A great set up, in a separate building. It was good to be able to come and go as I needed. A comfortable bed and good facilities. I wondered if I'd hear the road all the time, but I didn't hear it at all, and it wasn't very busy anyway. So that was great too. Really lovely and interesting walks straight from the house it'self and further afield as well. The Lime kilns etc were very interesting and the various reservoirs nearby were beautiful. The Autumn colours in the woodland and Calke Abbey...
