“Tired. Being refurbished.”
Reasonable hotel in good location. Urgently in need of a refurb to get back to 4* Swimming pool closed. Value for money as long as you get a deal during refurb.
“Not worth the money”
Overpriced in all aspects - I did not think we received anywhere near value for money from our stay. The rooms were very comfortable but extremely drab, almost austere in decoration - okay, I accept that is a matter of taste . Food served in the lobby area and the internal restaurant was generally 2nd rate in terms of quality and 3rd rate when gauged against the price paid. Tea and coffee, both in the lobby area and at breakfast were woefully poor. Very shabby, worn out furniture in public areas was surprising to see and I would suggest almost inexcusable. Very slow but curteous waiter/waitress service in Lobby Dining Area. Only hotel I've ever stayed at that charges (and charges a lot) for the little tubs of milk in ones room. Only hotel I've ever stayed at where I've been charged in excess of £45 for 3 cups of tea, a glass of orange juice and 3 coissants at breakfast. I was slightly embarrassed to have booked my parents into this hotel as I had foolishly told them beforehand that I had booked them into a good quality hotel for their overnight stay in Birmingham.
“vastly improved”
Was not looking forward to this as stayed 2 years ago and it was awful, but position next to symphony hall was too good to ignore. However, from getting out of taxi it was all excellent, greeted extremely well, efficient reception, clean room. Later went in bar hard working pleasant staff who couldnt do enough for us, next morning breakfast lovely and very helpful waiter. Only slight moan, on checking out the lady did not seem to speak English or really know what she was doing and a smile and an apology for the wait would have been nice, however, everything else was excellent.
“Great choice for its proximity to Water's edge, Sea life centre, convention centre and meetings”
I chose the Hyatt for its proximity to the convention centre, there is a footbridge above the road so you can walk directly to the ICC and Symphony Hall without going outside. The check-in and concierge staff were efficient and helpful, and there was a relaxed atmosphere all around. Any queries were dealt with swiftly. The bed and pillows are really comfortable, and the room was clean, well-equipped and peaceful. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it as a good business hotel.
“ONE OF THE BEST”
We had stayed at this hotel before so knew what to expect. Very convienient for shows especially the Symphany hall as you don't even have to go outside to get there, just walk over the adjoining bridge. Hotel service is as you expect from a 4star hotel but did think food prices a bit on the steep side. Shopping and other bars/restuarants just a 2minute walk away. Would definately stay there again.
“superb hotel in the centre of the city”
we were welcomed by incredibly kind and thoughtful people - after 9 on a saturday night - they parked our car for us so we wouldn't get lost looking for the ncp; the woman on reception was hugely kind and very sweet with our daughter; the room itself was a really good size and wonderfully appointed. lovely sheets etc.. what you'd expect from this price band of hotel; the breakfast was great too. we highly recommend the hotel. the only slight drawback is that they don't have their own car park. but the guy at outside desk took care of our car so we didn't have to, so it's fairly minimal inconvenience. it's worth paying slightly extra to stay here.
“Birminghams best hotel”
Third visit to the Hyatt over 3 years, Each time the hotel has been fantastic. Would definately return again
“Excellent hotel - could do with redecorating”
We ha ve been using this hotel four the past three years and have always been satisfied with the standard of service and the sheer convenience of having direct access to symphony hall. The only slightly negative comment is that the decor is going dowhill and it could do with sprucing up. Also - for the first time ever - the bathroom was not as clean as it might be. But despite those small gripes everything else is so good we shall go back.
“our favourite hotel in birmingham”
The hyatt is a lovely hotel with great facilities. the rooms are very comfortable, the proximity to bars, resturants and the ICC is ideal. We have stayed here many times before and have always loved our stay here. The only downside this time was the breakfast service. We had to wait for a table and once seated, had to ask for coffee's 3 times. Also the breakfast buffet was not replenished quickly and we had to wait for our food. That said, it wouldn't put me off staying here again and I hope that breakfast was a one off!
“Good quality hotel”
Good food, served by pleasant efficient staff.Excellent views from the rooms.
