A beautiful antique style Thai building, with lavish rooms and elegant courtyards, made entirely of wood, with a wonderful and very special feel. The spacious suites are fantastic value. Only downside is the slightly nondescript surroundings, not within walking distance of the centre of Chiang Mai - but this is an easy tuk-tuk/baht-bus/taxi ride of about ten minutes. The price of the hotel is very reasonable even when you factor in the 300 baht a day for return transport, and when you get back to the hotel after a hot day's touristing, it's like coming back to a peaceful oasis.
I have never had such an welcoming and comfortable hotel stay. Every component of our stay was focused on our comfort and experience. We checked in on New Years Eve, and there was an amazing special meal for the occasion, followed by a local (in the hotel) show of fireworks and Thai dance, followed by a champagne toast of the New Year at Chiang Mai's Royal Gardens (2558 pieces, based on the year).
And when that wasn't going on, we sat by the Koi pond, the most peaceful spot I have ever seen. I have never had such a wonderful stay anywhere.

Our room was tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. We loved the outdoor waterfall shower and enjoyed seeing our two little gecko visitors. Breakfast was delicious. I would definately recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet little getaway close to the big city of Chiangmai.
We had a great stay overall. The staff was so friendly at all times and went out of their way to provide excellent service. For the price, the room is very spacious and clean, including the bathroom. The room was cleaned well and towels changed every day. The pool is really nice - you can actually swim laps and there are plenty of lounge chairs. The workout area is small but functional, with a treadmill, bike, elliptical, and adjustable cable machine that get the job done. We had no big complaints until the dreaded Chinese tour bus pulled in on our second-to-last day. From then on the pool area got pretty noisy and crowded, and we really could not enjoy our stay as much. This of course is no fault of the hotel so I didn't detract any stars. I think almost any property in Chiang Mai suffers this same problem. The only other complaint would be the sound from construction across the street on a new building. This didn't bother us too much but we were on the far side of the hotel from it. Light sleepers closer to the noise might have a bigger problem.
Big room, clean, comfy bed, hot showers, nice staff, made to order breakfast, awesome price, fast wifi, and good location. After some of the more expensive garbage hotels we stayed in recently this place was an oasis. Only complaints are 1) we had to leave as the hotel was fully booked after our first 2 nights and 2) the pool was green and unusable while we were there (something we were looking forward to). Otherwise we'd for sure stay here next time!
