Check inn was quick and easy and entrance to hotel is actually separate to the adjacent pub which was great as we wasn't disturbed by any noise from the revellers on a weekend! "The Clifton is in the closing stages of a much needed renovation. The communal areas, bar and restaurant have been good for a long time, but the rooms were from a bygone era. Thankfully, they are now all up to a decent modern spec. My double room was comfortable and clean, with the climate control and new double glazed windows a welcome addition (aside from anything, to keep the noise of squaky seagulls out in the morning!). A rainfall style shower with a handheld shower on top was nice. The MPW restaurant underneath is a real bonus, as is the very smart bar. A very short stumble from town or the zig zag path down to the beach/harbour. An excellent base for exploring folkestone and beyond."
