"Really nice hotel friendly staff We arrived at 1.15 check in was 2pm so we had a couple of drinks and decided to have the carvery lunch which was advertised as 12.30-16.30 However when we went at 15.15 was told that they had run out and closed, obviously very disappointed. Was told the bar would serve food from 4pm so had more drinks and waited Bar food ok nothing special but fine. Rooms were nice but no way to open windows to get fresh air. Beds comfy hotel quiet. Nice stay but nothing...

"Lovely stay, made even better by lovely, friendly staff. Everyone we met was so helpful and welcoming. Excellent breakfast. Deluxe room was roomy, quiet and added benefit of separate bath and shower. I struggle to find fault....maybe a USB or plug by bed. "

"Not the most helpful of checkins which lasted all of 2 minutes - not told about breakfast times or check out. I think more pre occupied on taking the payment. Room was ok, mattresses were both hard so wasn’t the best nights sleep and we had noisy neighbours, as the walls must be thin- children arguing till near midnight wasn’t the best!!! Woke up with a sore back and a little stiff. Radiator in bedroom wasn’t working so the room felt quite cold compared to the bathroom which was lovely and...

"A very convenient, clean, quiet hotel - good value. I was a bit concerned by the closeness to the railway line, but heard nothing at all."

"The rooms were clean, the staff are professional and very helpful. The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of food to choose from. The location is great close to stores, pubs and restaurants. The metro is right there and just 20 minutes away from the airport. "

"Usually choose HI express when in Newcastle. Easy to drive to , car park next door , everything we need (pubs and gigs) in easy walking distance. Staff always locals so helpful and friendly"

"Very clean, lots of hot water & value for money. Some kind of hook needed in bathroom for clothes or dressing gown. Noisy at front of hotel that overlooks a busy A road when windows are open at night. Quiet once windows were closed. "

"Lovely hotel, only thing that let it down was the very squeaky floor boards which meant I was woke up quite a few times during the night and then at 5.30am when someone wasn’t too considerate and was banging about in the hallway. Did also have someone late at night chapping my door and running away. Let it down a bit unfortunately "

"This hotel is in a very nice area of Newcastl plenty of very good restaurants well within walking distance. "

"Stayed for 2 nights and could not fault the room and the breakfast was really good. However we decided to order a snack from the menu one evening. I ordered a sandwich, the menu stated fresh bloomer bread, brown or white, tuna, spring onion, mayonnaise and black pepper. When I received this it was 2 thin slices of 50/50 bread, no spring onion and the thinnest filling of tuna, more like spread. The charge for this was £8.00!! Definitely not worth the cost."
