The Boldons Pet-friendly Holidays

A well run property with a quality breakfast. My first choice while visiting the locale.

As we were checking out, we booked a stay at The Grange for next summer, and I'm already looking forward to returning. Pretty much everything about The Grange Country House is wonderful. The location feels like it’s a bit away from town but it's an easy 15 minute walk to the main square. The staff were exceptionally attentive and so very welcoming. They seem genuinely kind, and are glad to answer any questions you might have. Our room was large with stunning views, and it was immaculate. The bathroom looks to have been completely redone quite recently, either that or it’s just maintained perfectly well. I don’t stay in many places where I actually want to spend time hanging out in the room but this was an exception. I spent plenty of time in front of the window in a cozy chair looking out at the fells with a cup of coffee and a toffee biscuit (both provided in the room). Breakfasts were wonderful, as was the service at breakfast. The breakfast room is bright and airy and we had lovely conversation with fellow travelers - everyone was so friendly! Overall: 10/10, exceptional, hands down.

Staff very welcoming, professional snd informative. Dinner in the restaurant was superb. It was our first experience of sleeping in a ‘pod’ which, although small, was very well designed. The towels were beautifully soft. The complementary drinks in the fridge, and the wine, coffees, teas and biscuits etc laid out for us, was a generous touch and much appreciated.

not really anything other than a place to stay in the city centre which is the obvious attraction - the bar is very unwelcoming and the breakfast was below par considering the cost

The location and surrounding area is beautiful ,meals ere good and public rooms were very comfortable and well presented. The main issue and disappointment was that the area was a live building site as construction works were still being carried out on the Spa area, Construction traffic ,materials and staff were everywhere and this caused difficulties with parking and Hotel access when driving. The room we had was nice but the TV did not work properly and with no internet connection viewing choices were limited., There was no remote to operate the air cooling fan (room was very hot). The fan in the bathroom did not work and only one window would open for adequate fresh air. Construction noise started at 6:30 and continued until late afternoon/early evening.I was made aware of the construction work shortly after making my booking but was not anticipating so much work still to be carried out as the latest information supplied stated that the new facility was opening on the second day of our stay, this in fact did not happen and work was still being carried out on our departure date.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had such a lovely stay at The Royal Oak in Rosthwaite. It’s a beautiful, quaint hotel with so much character, set in a gorgeous location. The staff were absolutely fab — so friendly and welcoming — and the food was fantastic. Everything about the hotel made it feel relaxed and homely, and we really enjoyed our stay. I’d definitely recommend The Royal Oak to anyone looking for a lovely Lake District break. We’ll absolutely be back! ❤️
