"Very tired room, TV didnt work properly even after maintenance tried to fix it. Carpet stained, bathroom with lots of damage and generally very poor value for the money charged. Reception staff good. Hotel had LOTS of smashed glass and bottles outside and felt generally very iffy in terms of personal safety. Would not advise single females to use this hotel. It has clearly seen better days but I wont be using again."

"Staff excellent. Setting beautiful. We stayed in the old house which had real charm, but was a little tired. Beyond the historic house is a conference centre, with spa. We ate an evening meal in the 1744 restaurant which was well priced and very tasty. "
