This is no 'Spa' hotel

Posted 15-Feb-2016
Nice enough hotel...but this is no 'Spa' hotel. It is nicely presented Mercure hotel with a very poor gym/pool facility in another building. It is not even linked to the hotel and requires a walk outside. The gym and pool facility was cold, dirty and very disappointing. We stayed no longer than 20 minutes after a cold swim and steam. Couldn't even sit poolside comfortably. Just thankful we hadn't booked treatments or a full spa package. Would not recommend.

Not as pictured, disappointing stay

Posted 01-Feb-2016
Pros: Welcoming reception and bar staff.
Cons: Honest pictures of the hotel of the rooms the majority actually stay in, the bar and reception, not the old building which houses the few.
Check in went smoothly, however we were disappointed the majority of the rooms are in an extension building with the conference rooms. The rooms are on the opposite side of the property from the building in the pictures. The room was a good size as was the bathroom, however the window was small, in an alcove, did not open and it would be easy to bump your head, as the desk is placed underneath. After removing 5 beetles from the bed which we reported to the staff, we had dinner in the bar where the bar staff were lovely and welcoming and the food was delicious. Unfortunately after returning to our room, I did not have any cough mixture to offer to the person in the room next door, who we could hear clearly suffering as the walls are so thin as per a previous review. The food at breakfast was the usual affair and was accompanied by intrusive observance by the staff. Plates were cleared away as soon as the last morsel passed your lips to rush you along. At checkout despite already paying via Expedia, the hotel tried to bill us again for accomodation, this was quickly rectified when pointed out by us.

romantic trip

Posted 25-Jan-2016 on Hotels
we stayed in January for one night. good hotel service offered to book a table at restaurant/ taxi bookings. Room was nice size, comfortable bed and heating options. tea/coffee facilities good and toiletries supplied. However, some damage to room i.e. windowsills could do with updating, freeview only on tv. No wifi information provided.

Amazing place but spoilt by Christmas party

Posted 17-Jan-2016
I was so amazed by this place especially when we found out we were stating in the main hall as there are other rooms in a different building. I was blown away with this place. The room was amazing. I down graded the cleanliness as they didn't rinse the bath :/ yuk not nice to see hairs! The breakfast was nice but the big down side was the Christmas party which I have no problem with apart from the fact all their rooms were last ours. We had an important training day the next day the whole reason we stayed the night before as we travelled from Devon. Ended up getting to sleep around 2.30/3am :( this was around the time of the last lot of people going past our room. We mentioned it to the hotel they weren't that bothered but did apologise. I would love to stay there again but not so sure because it really spoilt our stay. Ou would think they would see where the party's rooms were and put we in the other side or the furtherest away. But great value for money loved the place just a dam shame as u would spend a weekend there no problem not so sure now.

Lovely hotel, great service and wonderful setting

Posted 10-Jan-2016 on Hotels
Spent a weekend in the Walton Hall for my girlfriend's birthday - the spa was relaxing but seemed a little frantic. One of the therapists had called in sick and the staff were scrambling to fix everything. It didn't affect our treatments but did seem to impact others. The gym was small but serviceable. We stayed in the hall and initially our room had no hot water. We notified Huw on reception and he helped us move rooms - excellent service, really happy with how it was resolved.

Great hotel in beautiful quiet surroundings.

Posted 07-Jan-2016
Pros: Gym, pool, bar food & breakfast, location and setting.
Cons: Mattresses could be due a renewal as springs were very evident in the night.
Location: Beautifully quiet and rural, within easy driving distance of Warwick (castle), Stratford-upon-Avon (RSC and all things Shakespeare) and Birmingham.
Great facilities, the pool and gym area were fantastic. Breakfasts were very good and at a very reasonable rate. The beds were OK, but the springs could be felt a little too much in the night, other than that the room was great, and very clean.

Stayed over after a Christmas break on our way back … lovely setting (not easy to find without satnav!). Had a standard room (one night only), which was spacious and clean. People friendly, room fine, but food seemed expensive. All in all ok.
