We were pleasantly surprised . For what was ‘pub’ accommodation, our room was fantastic, couldn’t have asked for more. Friendly staff, great village location, within easy driving distance of Thetford Forest.

Would definitely stay again, the staff we very helpful and friendly! WiFi a little patchy but that is probably due to the thickness of the walls. I would definitely much rather have the character of the place over the WiFi :-)

The Crown is a lovely historic period hotel and pub. It is located in a nice quiet village and there are local amenities such as a fish & chip shop and a traditional cafe. Its close to A road links and its 15 minutes drive from Thetford. I am told that this is the location for the filming of the TV show Campion which Peter Davidson stared in. The pub is super traditional and the beer was well kept. There is a lot of "olde worlde" charm to it. There is parking to the front and a beer garden / smoking area out back. The room I had was clean, comfortable and well fitted in a very traditional style. Lovely big sleigh bed and plenty of space to hang clothes etc. Breakfast was very nice, a traditional English breakfast with hearty serving of all the usual. I didn't have dinner there but the menu looked good and if it is as well done as breakfast I am sure it will be great. My only criticism is that the bar was very popular on the Friday night I was staying and there was loud music and singing clearly heard in my bedroom until after midnight. Over breakfast I overhead some other residents comment that they had a lovely nights sleep, and some that they had also been disturbed by the bar. So maybe it depends on if you are close to it, or a light sleeper, or both.

Absolutely perfect. Lovely atmosphere. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful, and so pleasant to talk to. The food was out of this world. Posh restaurants get 5 stars for tolerable food - you should get 10 stars as your food is the best we have tasted and no skimping on portion size. Lovely location.

Midnight Monday night loud music and people making noise outside, parking is very limited, kettle had to be used on the floor because the tea/coffee station had no socket. Unable to dry hair in front of a mirror as where the mirrors are again have no power. Would not recommend

I am sorry about the noise, this is not normal, especially on a Monday night. We do have another car park, which you should have been shown. I can only apologise and note your comments re kettle & mirror.

Excellent stay at the Crown Hotel
Very impressed with our stay. We booked a family room, but heard they have cottages, so queried by message and Callum was very helpful. On arrival it was Callum who checked us in and he seemed to be around quite a lot. We were delighted as we were given a cottage. Swiss cottage has a lounge, kitchen, conservatory, a single bedroom, a twin bedroom and a double bedroom, bathroom and shower. The cottage was quite basic but clean and adequately furnished. Heating was very good. Breakfast excellent, we were served all three mornings by a lady who has only just started here and was very friendly and helpful. You can choose your breakfast cooked items also cereal, toast, jams, marmite, orange juice. We had dinner on Friday and it was superb. Excellent menu (the homemade lasagne was one of the best I've ever had). Puddings were great and good size portions. We were visiting my brother in law and his family so will be back again later this year!

Lovely Pub

A very good stay
A very good stay. Our room was extremely large ,clean ,warm and comfortable. The service & food in the pub was very good as was the breakfast. Very helpful & friendly staff There are only 2 minor negative things to comment on - no shelf in the bathroom to put any toiletries & didn't want to put them on the floor & a need for a bath mat in the shower as it was very slippery. Would definetly stay again

one night stay to visit family
Friendly staff at check in at the pub. Room was in separate building - there are a lot of rooms. Clean room. Negatives: no mattress protector on the bed just a thin sheet , lumpy pillows and the chair was hard. Breakfast included and was plentiful if you are hungry. Would stay again - but recommend hotel uses mattress protectors and checks pillows for comfort.

Fantastic old world traditional pub/hotel atmosphere, great food, very reasonably priced. Fabulous value and a refreshing change from chain hotels. Some rooms are a short walk from the main building in an adjoining row of houses.

My this or fourth time staying here on business. Pleasant staff, quiet village, well situated for an assault on Norfolk and beyond. I was fortunate to stay in Swiss Cottage this time, which is nicely kitted out and would be a brilliant place for a family / group to stay as a base for an exploration of the region. Village has a chippy, and the pub seems nice, though I've never eaten there, always arriving late and leaving after breakfast (which has been brilliant on earlier visits, but not as good this time around (don't know why - maybe it was me?). Look forward to trying it all again in the not too distant future - good value, nice atmosphere, parking can be tricky if you arrive late, friendly natives!

A lovely hotel in a nice quiet location. The staff were all friendly. The Sunday roast and breakfast was good . Location is ideal since we were going to a concert and it was only 40 mins away. Would definitely stay here again.

Crown Hotel - friendly and full of character
Stayed for two nights in this historic hotel - the service was very good, friendly staff, delicious breakfast and evening meals, and the place itself had so much character, dating back to the 1500's - original beams, hidden staircases etc. Mundford is lovely village , with shop, cricket club, fish & chip shop ,( didnt use as meals so good at Crown), and not far from Thetford Oxburgh, Wicken Fen and Welney - we visited them all.
