When I first arrived, I had high hopes. The room seemed nicely decorated, the bed was comfortable, and there were several nice touches, such as a wireless charger by the bed and a Nespresso machine for coffee.
Then the cold light of day came, and I noticed how dirty the room was. There was thick dust along the edges of the bedroom carpet and behind the bathroom door, as well as rogue hairs on the bathroom sink. There also appeared to be a speck of what looked like blood on one of the pillow cases. Next, it transpired that none of the 'nice touches' I'd previously identified actually worked. The wireless charger was broken. They gave me a new one but it wasn't powerful enough to charge an iPhone (my diagnosis was that the USB wall plug didn't have a large enough wattage). The Nespresso machine also didn't work, emitting a red flashing light whenever I tried to make a coffee. I reported this to them on my way out for the day, and they said somebody would try to fix it.
When I returned that evening, it was evident that somebody had tried to fix the machine, as it had been moved. When I tried it, it still didn't work. When asked how my stay had been when checking out, I brought up the Nespresso machine, and suggested it might need descaling. I was told: "we did that last week, they're just a bit temperamental at the moment". Unsure what this meant, I waited, hoping for some kind of redemption; maybe to be offered a coffee from behind the bar. The moment passed. I left.
