"Really enjoyed our stay at The Grey Gull Hotel. The hotel is a little dated in places, but our room was clean and spacious with a nicely renovated bathroom. Staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, including with our dog. Food was tasty and reasonably priced too. Great value for money and we’d stay again."

"Perfect sized cottage for 2, with very comfortable bed, excellent hot water supply, well thought out kitchen and sitting room. The powerful shower is a bit too much for the slow drainage in the bathroom shower cubicle. This was the main problem we had (hence the one “4” rating”) but was not really a major issue. We appreciated the friendly welcome from Tayla, also the advice on walks around the estate and list of local eateries, although some of these are not fully operational at present. We liked the Smiddy in Lochgilphead one lunchtime and the cafe in the Ardfern village shop gave us excellent home made soup and sandwiches another day. The peaceful surroundings, nuts and fatballs provided to entice local birds (plus flapjacks for the visiting humans!) all made for a lovely week’s holiday base."

"We had a fantastic minimoon at Crinan!! Food is 11/10. Staff 11/10! Location is absolutely stunning. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. We had a room with a balcony and the views are out of this world. The boat trip on Ross Ryan’s boat The Sgarbh was incredible. We saw seals and Sea Eagles and sailed around the islands. This hotel is a true Scottish gem!"

"The evening meals that we had were out of this world, Scott is a fantastic chef! Irene is just the loveliest lady, nothing is too much bother for her, I just don’t know how she does it all!!"

"It was our first bad experience of staying in a room with no windows next to the lake. Please be aware when booking. This bedroom should not be offered to guests staying next to the lake. It should be a store room."
