Outside lovely, bedroom hugely disappointing
We looked at the photos online and thought that the Barnett Hill Hotel would be a lovely place to spend a couple of days, we were wrong.
The outside appearance and grounds are beautiful, the hallway, public areas and reception are very nice but the bedroom we stayed in was awful.
The walls were paper thin and we could hear conversation from the guests in the room below.
Dead wasps on the window ledge, dead bugs in the bathroom light fixture, peeling wallpaper, stained carpet, chipped sink, dirty grout around the bathtub, towels that were old and grey, and a general air of the room that time forgot. We had dinner on the first night and the music was loud to compete with a wedding taking place in a room close by. I had the burger, it was not a gourmet burger but one that had come out the freezer by the taste and texture. The staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was good, the woman in charge of food and beverage was excellent and found us a quiet spot to sit away from the leftover wedding party who were extremely noisy.
The bar was not open until 2:00pm and even then, service was sporadic.
The uht milk was not replaced in our room so the following morning we had tea and coffee black, not the end of the world but annoying.
This was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
