ibis budget Birmingham Centre
2/10 Terrible
"Firstly I’d say, the staff were lovely. Check-in was easy and they were very friendly and polite. Downhill from there. I’d say I’ve stayed a quite a variety of hotels in my time of all budgets. This felt like I was staying in a supply cupboard in an office. The window was slightly bigger than a cat flap. The sink was in the room like a prison cell, the toilet in a little cupboard and as for the shower, it was an introduction to what my final resting place may feel like. If you’re claustrophobic don’t even bother. Air conditioning didn’t work - it was the hottest day of the year. Not that it wasn’t blowing cold, it wasn’t blowing at all. So in combination of the weather, the cat flap window and lack of AC, sleeping in there would have been comfier with a serial killer with a fetish for breath play. I dunno, even though this was a budget hotel, I still kinda hoped there would be at least a bottle of water. Naa, just two paper cups to fill at your prison cell sink. Didn’t take any pictures as they would have been ugly enough to ruin my phone camera. 10/10 will avoid like the plague."

Crowne Plaza Stratford Upon Avon by IHG
8/10 Good
"We overall had a wonderful stay, however there were a few areas that improvements are needed. The good - -Rooms very spacious (and thank god for the aircon in the heat). -The property was clean and also had a wonderful garden area. It’s really close to everything as well. -Breakfast was also really good value for money with everything you can think of available. -Friendly staff The bad -Check in. Minimal staff to check guests in at 3pm (check in time) so was extremely long wait. Were offered free drinks from the bar as an apology (which turned out to be a limited selection when claiming when that were not made aware of when first given them, however they are aware of how many guests are checking in on what day, staffing accordingly would make sense. -Bathroom really needs updating - the shower over the bath has zero pressure. The anti slip severely stained, as is the plug hole. Tap for sink also only just hangs over the sink so when washing hands, water goes everywhere. We were also unfortunately to find hairs from previous guest still in the bath -Cleaners. On morning of check out, we were making most of our room before leaving due to us not wanting to be too early to where we were heading onto. Around 9:30 the cleaner knocked to see if we were still present. Made her aware that we didn’t plan on leaving until around 10:30/10:45. 20 minutes later she knocked again and seemed extremely annoyed that we were still there."

Leonardo Royal Hotel Birmingham
10/10 Excellent
"Lovely welcome to the hotel, donuts and ice cold drinks were much needed after a long hot journey. Check-in was great, had a lovely lady run us through it. Rooms were immaculately clean. Coffee was exceptional and great for the next morning after a late night. The White Company toiletries were such a nice touch in the bathroom, I can still smell it now I’m home and think I might have to indulge 😂. Thanks team Leonardo Birmingham"

"Was looking forward to the stay however very disappointed to say the least . 1.Most hotels if you get their early allow an earlier check in if there is availability- this hotel wants £25 per hour for an earlier checkin 2. As we got there early than check in, we used the pool. As this is a 4 star establishment , at the minimum expected body wash in the pool showers. There were 4 showers in changing rooms, all 4 soap dispensers empty. Makes me wonder , are the hourly checks actually being done ? Had to therefore have the shower in my room instead. When I made staff aware , at no stage was I offered soap/ for someone to refill it 3. Then we went out to get some food- drive to the barrier and it says to exit i need a code . I was never told.of a code at check in at all . Stuck at the barrier for 10 min as there isnt even a help button by the barrier. Ended up phoning the hotel to get the pin code to exit . Told the hotel we were never told of the code needed-- the staff response was you need to check the walls in reception , as code is there. Didn't realise, not have i ever been told to search walls of a hotel to see if I need any codes. The hotel should tell their patrons all the information they need . Pool area was dated , didnt try the in house restaurant so cant comment on that I personally wouldn't stay here again . Was expecting a 4 star hotel for a nice spa break with some nice treatments etc. Treatments we now booked elsewhere."
