Situated in the business district, this eco-friendly hotel is within 3 miles (5 km) of Shirley Park, Blythe Valley Park and Touchwood Shopping Center. Bullring Shopping Centre and National Exhibition Centre (NEC) are also within 9 miles (15 km).
When I booked there was no information regarding the fact it was room service only and that there was only 4 meal options. All were not suitable for me as I have a severe nut allergy. I’d also paid for breakfast upfront and was not informed it would be a bag with a drink, a croissant and a yogurt in. Very poor customer service.
The parking at this hotel is £5 per night and not free as advertised.
I arrived at the hotel at about 9pm. I discovered the TV didn’t work in the room. Nobody in reception. No phones in the room. Only option was to use the app and log a maintenance request. Request logged was informed by the app bot someone would be with me in 30 mins. 1 hour and 15 mins later I gave up waiting and went to sleep.
In the morning I said about the maintenance request to the girl on reception. Was advised it would be fixed.
Got back to hotel at around 8:30 that evening. Girl on reception had no clue about any maintenance request. Told me to call the front desk (gave a number) if it wasn’t fixed. It wasn’t.
Called reception. Some matey from the gym came up and turned my TV off and on about 20 times. The girl from reception also came to “see how to fix it”. It wasn’t fixed. Finally they moved me to a new room 2 floors down. The matey from the gym broke their own social distancing rules and got in the lift with me. Came in the room to verify I know how to turn a TV on. I asked “should I not get a room upgrade as it’s now 10pm on the 2nd night”. Answer was a clear No. apparently their wasn’t any rooms. 9 cars in the car park and Tier3 area.
The new room the heating didn’t work.
Village hotels in general are pretty good but NOT SOLIHULL. This one is awful. It’s also in Shirley and not Solihull.
