Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa

Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa

10/10 Excellent
"Great location and so convenient for local restaurants and shops. Parking offside took a minute or two and was really easy. Our room was very large and perfect for my disabled Mum. Breakfast and food in the bar was excellent. It was lovely to sit and relax with such a stunning view. Chantelle made sure our room was always clean and lovely to return to. All the staff were so sweet and nothing was too much trouble. Overall great value, fabulous location, gorgeous views and walkability."

What is a historic hotel like in Sedbergh?
Historic hotels give guests the chance to stay in a building recognised with a national historic designation. Historic hotels throughout the world can be castles, palaces or even pubs or old police stations — any building that's been identified as being of special interest. These types of hotels in Sedbergh typically preserve original qualities such as period features or traditional architecture in guestrooms or communal spaces.
What is the difference between a historic hotel and a heritage hotel?
The two are similar. "Historic hotel" is a term often used in the US, while "heritage hotel" is often used in Asia and Europe. Historic hotels tend to emphasise the architecture and building. A heritage hotel draws meaning mainly from the cultural value and how it influenced the community.
Do historic hotels in Sedbergh have modern facilities?
Yes. Every effort is made to preserve treasured traditions and historic facades, but hotel interiors are fitted with modern conveniences and safety features. Guests should expect the popular amenities you'd get from a hotel such as private rooms with updated bathroom facilities, WiFi and more. In Sedbergh, booking a historic hotel doesn't mean you will stay in a place that's uncomfortable for guests or simply rundown.
