Terrible service by Management

Posted 01-Feb-2016
Pros: Size of the Family room was nice.
Cons: Management
Location: Terrible Location. Feels like you will be robbed.
The Hotel is in a bad area. Not very inviting. The Hotel is a fine middle of the road Hotel with a nice coffee shop and restaurant for breakfast. We had a family room which is very cool with 2 Queen Beds and a Bunk bed for the kids. The view was into an alley though so we kept the curtains closed. The carpets do need a good deep clean or replacement. Also we where awoken by concrete drilling at 7:30. They are renovating at the Hotel. My main problem was with Management. I booked the Hotel for the start of our trip and the end so that we are close to the Airport. I booked the stays and by acceded booked another 3rd stay that I did not need. I immedeatily called Expedia and they called the Hotel to get me a refund. They did not want to refund. I then personally contacted the Hotel to ask for a partial refund or a credit to a future stay. The answer was NO, NO, NO. Not a great management style! Give this Hotel a pass, I am sure there are better in San Jose.

Good Location, But......

Posted 24-Jan-2016
Pros: Location; staff; room comfort; WiFi.
Cons: Temperature consistency of shower water; restaurant food.
Location: Not much to do during the week; weekends there is a crazy dance club in the same building.
This hotel is situated in the commercial district of San Jose, near their big park (in the west part of the city). It is a typical business hotel, and as such the WiFi was excellent and the room spartan, but of acceptable comfort. However, the shower was difficult to deal with, as the water fluctuated constantly from scalding hot to freezing. And the restaurant was quite possibly the worst that I have ever eaten at: food was lukewarm at best, appeared to be of questionable origin, and ended up causing a nasty GI issue (also known as food poisoning) hours later. Not a fun way to spend your bathroom time....... If you do decide to stay at this hotel, please, for the love of God, do not eat at the restaurant!!!!

Average Hotel, Good Location

Posted 17-Dec-2015
Average hotel in a good location. For the money that I paid it wasn't worth it. Long waits at the reception due to having only one member of staff. Sol who was the receptionist was friendly and very informative however another member of staff is needed to support her and speed up the process. My room was not cleaned, and during my stay I had to ring and request for it to be cleaned. Average breakfast with little choice. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone else at the price we paid, there are better hotels in San Jose. Felt more like a glorified B&B than a hotel. NOT WORTH THE PRICE AT ALL!

Dear guest, we are very sorry you found the relation price - quality out of range, this is not what most of our guests feel however we highly respect your opinion. We have two people in staff in the front desk at all times, however Murphy's law works often and sometimes we have a crowed when one of them is having a meal.

Beautiful Modern Hotel

Posted 29-Nov-2015
Pros: The restaurant food was great. The view was incredible. The room was huge and very modern.
Cons: Costa Rica never sleeps. The road noise settles down around 2am and starts again at 4am. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep.
Location: You can walk downtown. Be sure to visit the cultural center, it is amazing. The theatre is amazing too.
On the 8th floor with huge windows overlooking the city. Room was spacious, clean and with comfortable bedding.

15 min to the airport (with no traffic)..

Posted 02-Nov-2015 on Hotels
It's hard to rate this hotel objectively, after spending time in lodges in the jungle and reserves along the beach. We spent our last night in San Jose after a week traveling in Costa Rica, and battled through quite a bit of rush hour traffic to get here. Cannot comment too much on the neighborhood besides the fact that it looked a little sketchy and the only restaurant recommended by the front desk was a good four blocks away. I want to say it's a mix of homes and smaller businesses. The front desk was professional and quickly got us checked in. The room was a bit musty/damp, and the room reminded us what you could expect of a Motel 6 / Budget type room in the states. There was a view of the city from our 8th floor room. We didn't take advantage of the breakfast since our flight was super early, and coffee/snacks were not offered either. It was a decent hotel in the city with a very metropolitan feel, and close enough to the airport (15 minute ride) so it did the trick.

Friendly & helpful staff.Public areas first class.

Posted 01-Nov-2015
Pros: The staff, the public areas, super breakfast.
Cons: Convert my room into a storage area.
Location: The hotel is right next to Paseo Colón. Many eating places, including a Mexican food restaurant and a pub very close by. Also next to Sabana park.
My one-night stay was very enjoyable - with very friendly and helpful staff. The only black spot was the room . The contrast between the room and all the public areas that I saw was more than a touch bizarre. I would rate the public areas and the staff especially as at least four stars, but my room two stars. I would describe my room as long, narrow, dark and super gloomy. All of this because of its physical dimensions. The room was very clean. The bathroom was very good - it was first on the right after coming into the room. Then came the bed - and it looked like the walls were erected after the bed was put in - one foot clearance on one side and two feet on the other side. Space only for one bedside cabinet. Beyond the bed the room narrowed to about seven feet wide, and it remained at this width for about twenty feet all the way to the window in the far end. The TV was placed on top of the dresser in front of the bed, and watchable only by sitting on the bed. It was as if my room belonged to a two-star hotel, while all the staff and all the public areas belonged to a four star hotel.

Dear guest, thank you for taking the time to write a review it is very important for us to find out about your experience and work in the areas that need to be taken care of. You are right, some rooms are extremely big for the building was first conceived with a different purpose, however they are clean and full with everything the travelers require to a comfortable stay.
