"Despite pre checking in there was still a 20 minute wait at check in, which on previous visits has been slow. Another staff member came out of the back room and instead of helping his colleague with the large queue he ignored us and disappeared. The coffee machines at breakfast are a disappointing move away from the fresh tea and coffee. Also people bringing their dogs down to the breakfast room is off putting. We had a deluxe double sea view room. Slept very well, beds comfy. The hotel is clinging onto to its traditional character and furniture. However some furnishings are ready for replacement and looking tired."

"So the hotel doesn’t look much from the outside but inside it’s well furnished, great decor and very clean. The room had a charming aesthetic with beams, the bedding was excellent and very well equipped. The only complaint I had about the room was the nespresso machine was fiddly and the hot water is really hot so be careful! Would recommend especially for couples."

"Superb check in experience. Beautiful room. Would highly recommend. Bar/restaurant area was too noisy unfortunately, staff not so welcoming and lack of tables due to an external event reserving a large section, so we avoided and ate out."

"Beautiful hotel. I wanted to give 5 stars for staff as the receptionists welcome was lovely. I was helped with my bag to my room. The spa team really professional and informative. Both doorman I encountered advised on the weather for the day and short cuts for where I needed to go in the city. I even received a compliment on my outfit which was super sweet. Sadly I only gave 4 stars for staff. All but one member of staff were super friendly, helpful and professional. The team were let down by one person who ignored my presence on purpose when I sat in his area in the lounge. He was chatting to colleagues who were working the bar so was not busy. I gave this person 15 minutes to bother themselves to serve me but had to ask a passing waiter. Who apologised for his colleague, explained he would have approached sooner but he was looking after a different area. This pleasant young man got me a drinks menu, recommended a cocktail and brought me my drink efficiently-he got the tip. The lazy waiter meanwhile remained at the bar chatting (I got the impression he didn't wish to serve me as he wanted to finish his shift). Oh well I'm sure management will spot this member of the team that clearly is in the wrong job."
