I had always wanted to stay at the Imperial, as it was my late Uncle's favourite hotel in Blackpool. The building is impressive and the rooms spacious, but it has a feeling of being past its best. The décor is a little dated and some of the amenities were unavailable to us as a result of either COVID or "upgrading". Hence, we had no pool or health club and the Palm Court restaurant was closed. However, the staff are excellent....both friendly and very efficient. The food is good and freshly prepared at both breakfast and evening meals. The wine list could use some improvement by the addition of some better European wines. The room was spacious and very clean and comfortable for a one week stay. However, due to COVID, the room was not serviced throughout our stay, which was explained to us prior to arrival. This is partially understandable, but could be better managed, as my wife and I stayed in another grand hotel in Morecambe last July (no names, no pack drill), which had a much better COVID-secure cleaning regime. Overall, we were happy with our stay and would use the Imperial again for future visits to Blackpool.
