"Good value for what I paid. The room was clean and comfortable but could do with a freshening up. The breakfast was good and the staff were friendly."
"Stayed for two nights and had the most wonderful experience in this cosy hotel filled with history. Yes it's true it could use a lick of paint, but the amazing staff and very good restaurant make up for that bigtime. "

"Stayed for the weekend with the family (2 adults & 2 kids aged 8 & 6). Room was a good size and clean. Great amenities on site - playpark, cinema, swimming pool, soft play & amazing pizza at the resort's Italian restaurant. "
"We had a very enjoyable stay at the Talisker Lodge. We stayed over the Christmas holiday. It felt so cosy… we enjoyed the log burner & loved how it was located in the woods. We saw lots of woodland wildlife inc a red squirrel & woodpeckers. The property encourages you to feed the wildlife. We arrived to a bucket of nuts & a bag of fat balls. We went out to buy more fatballs as the birds soon got through them. We really enjoyed watching all the birds & the squirrel that came. We’d love to return to this property in the future. It’s well equipped in the kitchen… all home comforts. There’s even a couple of dog bowls for use if you stay with your dog/s like we did. Towels are supplied & a hairdryer. There’s a travel cot & high chair as well. Many thanks to Angus for his quick response to any questions we had. We were made to feel very welcome. A big thumbs up to this property! "
"The basic setup here is fantastic. Really well situated, and at a point in the past the property was clearly set up to be ideal. Since then it looks like things have begun to run down in the way that any short term let always does eventually.
Things to keep an eye out for:
Every knife and utensil has a better than 50/50 chance of being blunt or broken.
The vast majority of the hob won't light, so avoid planning to cook for the property's capacity.
Not all appliances will be working. Expect one dishwasher rather than the two, or if you're in our position, half a dishwasher as the only working one will have its runners trashed. Be very careful handling the kitchen tap, which has not been properly fixed. Any battery powered items like scales probably won't have a battery.
The hot tub will be available, but only on the second day of your stay.
When we stayed, we were told immediately that the previous guests had been particularly rowdy, and that their stay had necessitated an extra house cleaner for a day, if that's the case they did a good job, and I was initially under the impression that our experience was a bit of a one off.
Unfortunately, when I contacted the host about the above issues, they opted to tell me that my group *also* necessitated an extra house cleaner before sending me a picture of a slightly damaged stool neither me nor my guests have ever seen. Either we have been mixed with the previous group, or this is a standard tactic. Take many pictures."
