So bad that none of us could sleep, left the next day, even though we were booked for 2 nights, none of us could face another night there so we drove home. Will be submitting a formal complaint. "The house is very dated, the beds were uncomfortable, the rubbish bins outside were overflowing. The listing states a hot tub and the photos show that that’s what drew us to book but upon arrival there wasn’t one ! The staff on the phone were rude when they called to complain about our parking, we wasn’t even in at the time. They didn’t even ask if everything was ok with the stay. Would I recommend it no !"

"This small stylish apartment is almost unbeatably located and is comfortably appointed. We would have rated it 5 stars overall except for some mildly irritating features such as the bathroom lights operating on a movement detector switch. No one enjoys the lights going off while you’re having a shower at night. The hand basin was also too small. Storage in the kitchenette was also somewhat chaotic. Nevertheless we enjoyed our stay and these were minor matters."

"Our last visit before the hotel closes 😢. We go once a year, normally around Christmas, but as it’s closing soon brought this forward. Huge thank you to all the Grosvenor team who we have met many times over the years for their kindness and hospitality. Chester is loosing not just a hotel but a genuinely unique landmark and much of that is down to the amazing staff. I hope it will return but sadly I suspect it may never have the special/uniqueness it has had as the staff will all have moved on or even retired. Wishing all the staff and the hotel the very best for the future."

"It’s a lovely hotel and have stayed several times. My only reason for 4 star rating was my room was directly above a very loud gathering with lots of noise. As it was happening as I arrived I assumed it was a corporate event likely to finish early evening. It was not and the noise continued until late. My only comment would be to the staff to put other residents away from the event location at least not directly above it"

"A very quirky hotel with plenty of character. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast presented a good choice and the eving menu had a number of choices. Room was a little dated but to be expected in a castle. Peacocks everywhere!! Village centre is very quiet with a number of units closed. Work was taking place on the central mm aren't square so a little unkempt and inaccessible."
