Beautiful hotel right next to the beach

Posted 19-Nov-2017
This is a beautiful hotel right next to the beach. Everybody here works very hard to make your stay excellent. The Micheal Jackson show was awesome. The buffet is great with a huge variety of excellent food. I will definitely stay here again if/when I come back to the Dominican Republic.

Nice facility, golf was great, ford ok

Posted 18-Nov-2017
Overall the trip was very enjoyable. The $550 credit to spend at facility was really worthless. You had to buy stuff to get a coupon book for discounts, rather than getting free stuff. I thought that was false advertising. Food at some of the restaurants was great, others Ok, some bad. I was disappointed that when I wen to make reservations for some of he restaurants, they were closed. What is that about???? Room was big and comfortable. Beach was great, pools are spectacular. This was our third time at this resort, so I guess I would recommend it.

Nice hotel but...

Posted 09-Nov-2017
It has all the tools to be the best hotel in the area but it came up short. Staff seems lacking motivation although infrastructure not new but well maintained. Very good food at restaurants but again service not up to the level of the food. It seems as if management had reduced a bonus or something because the hotel has it all but staff just didn’t seem to care much

Past it’s prime

Not as good as our visits in the past. This place is not what it used to be. From moldy pillows in our room, to unifentified red stains on our room floor, unpainted surfaces, mold smells, to flaking apart finishes in the ‘restaurants,’ it might be time to pick a different place for the all-inclusive experience. Key features of the promised experience are in unapologetically ‘broken,’ toads off, or moved. The staff is mostly wonderful and kind. The food of good. The facility needs to be totally closed and remodeled from the ground up.

An honest review - Hotel was OK

Posted 18-Oct-2017
Pros: Bed and pool. Since we went in October, there were plenty of beds around the pool and beach.
Cons: Food quality and options.
Location: There wasn't much to do at night. They had shows but it was in an open area in the middle of the resort. It was hard to get a good spot to watch.
Rough start checking in. The staff was great but we ended up with 1 king size bed when we asked for 2 so we wasted time switching rooms on our 1st day. My mom's room had a really bad mold smell that no one was able to sleep so they got their rooms changed the day after. Overall the rooms were clean. The beds were comfy. There are no signs to anywhere on the property besides the room numbers of guests rooms. Took us a few circling around to know where a certain restaurant was or which way was faster to the pools. There aren't many lunch options. You have the buffet and a restaurant called Fuego. Snack bar if you like a quick bite. The buffet was OK. Some days were better than others. So many flies flying around. It didn't make you feel like the foods were safe to eat. A friend of mine found a maggot on her mango. We checked to see if the other mangos were ok but it seemed like it was just that 1 pc.You have a little more options for dinner but even then you have only had like 4 places to choose from. For a short trip, it was fine but for someone who wants to stay for 7+ days, you get kind of sick of all the same type of food. Also, there wasn't much to do at night. There are so many other little things that just didn't make the stay not so great. I would definitely not consider this a 4 star. Maybe a 3 to a 3.5. I have stayed in much better places for far less the money. This was my family's first time here so I really hope they thought it was slightly better than how I feel.

Staff was superb, property was ok

Posted 02-Oct-2017
Pros: Staff, beauty of pool.
Cons: Buffet quality is marginal. Rooms were tired. AC worked ok, but televisions didn't work and some light switches were inoperable.
Location: The resort grounds and pool and beach were excellent.
The staff is very helpful. The rooms were a bit tired. The pool and beach area were spectacular. The food was just so so. The restaurants were far better than the buffet, but availability of reservations at the restaurants was limited. The evening entertainment programs were perfect for our family of 9, ranging in ages from 6 to 64.

Perfect beachside location

Posted 13-Sep-2017
The hotel is perfectly situated on Playa bávaro. The lobby/bar areas are nicely appointed with inviting furnishings. However our room was a bit lackluster. For one the bathroom was not as immaculately clean as expected. The vanity cabinets had visible wear and water stains. The tub jets were not properly working and the decorative bed pillows had a musty odor. The pool was nice however the swimup bar did not offer food service. I have stayed at other paradisus properties and they offer food at the swimup bars and beachside ordering. This would have made our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. I also recommend that the hotel proprietars consider a greater variety of quality food options at the buffet and restaurants. overall the hotel is beautiful and in a prime location.

Nice Hotel with Excellent Staff but Not 5 Star

Posted 12-Sep-2017
Pros: The customer service provided by our butler Francis Newton and the pool butler Martin Tineo. The common areas and the staff at the buffet.
Cons: The reservation process and the limited menus at the restaurants. The rooms in the Royal Service area. The food handling in the buffet, we got sick.
Location: We did not venture outside the hotel except to go the nearby mall. Town close by seemed nice.
We stayed at the Paradisus Palma Real from August 27th through September 3rd. The hotel's common areas and ocean view are beautiful. We paid for Royal Service and although we were close to the beach and the pool, the rooms are definitely in need of remodeling. The staff, with very few exceptions, were outstanding. Friendly, helpful and polite. Our butler, Francis Newton was absolutely outstanding. He checked on us all the time and took care of our dinner reservations and any issues we encountered. I don't think we would have enjoyed our stay as much as we did without Francis. He is a true asset to Paradisus Palma Real. Martin Tineo, who is the pool butler was also incredible. He took care of our spot on the beach and brought our drinks without us having to even ask. Loved him! There are issues with getting reservations even with a butler. I can't understand why this is such a huge problem this is the last thing you want to worry about on your vacation. We had dinner at the steak house. Total disaster. There were not enough waiters so we waited so long to be served that we had to leave without having dessert. The meals were hit and miss. Some of the steaks were tough, the side dishes were small and some were never brought to the table. We also had dinner at the Peruvian restaurant and it was a much better experience. The waiter was outstanding and brought us different appetizers to try. The entrees were delicious and he didn't have any issues customizing.
