Save your money and go somewhere else
Spent 6 days 09-28-16 - 10/04/16 with a group of 36 people for a destination wedding. Some of the group stayed at the Palace and some at the Beach resorts.
Overall, the grounds, beach, pool, buildings and deco were beautiful and very clean with plenty of chairs at both the beach and the pool. It is a very pleasant environment. The suites at the Palace were very nice, but the regular rooms at Palace and Beach were just okay and definitely needed updating. Many in group complained that rooms were never cleaned, dishes not taken away, towels not restored or mini-fridges not restocked.
The food was poor to good (nothing outstanding). Las Brisas Buffet was actually most peoples favorite place to dine. The Asian Restaurant was by far the best food and service. Drinks are not great, as they use cheap syrups to make their fruity frozen drinks, instead of any fresh fruit. Best place to get drink is the Carey Lobby bar in the Palace and at Las Brisas Buffet (where you can ask them to blend fresh fruit with rum for a real tropical drink).
The main complaint though is the service. Most of the servers, bartenders, front desk staff, etc. act like we were bothering them for any kind of request. We all tipped very well in an effort to get better service, but frankly it was a waste of money. Staff at the towel/cabana stations will not give you any towels as you are supposed to have them in your room and if you don't bring down or housekeeping didn't stock you are out of luck.
