Great time

I do think the drinks needed to have a little more liquor in them. The Restaurant service was good BUT very slow, food at Chez was the best. Make your reservations the day you get there or you will get very late reservation time. The grounds at the resort where beautiful

Pros: Staff and management..The best! .Rooms are basically quiet, away from the activity centers, comfortable and well designed. Good variety, quality food.
Cons: Tile floors can be noisy .Do something about the golf course restaurant, New system, same poor service, in some cases appears intentional..
Location: Small resort attached to a mega resort, 800 acres, every sport, water sport and activity.. All kinds of off site activities picked up at resort.
Been coming to the DR for over 25 years, have settled into here for last 6 years. Saw all the sites, did all the activities, some twice. Lots of options here including doing a lot of nothing. All the various DR activities can be accessed from here. You have access to the mega resort next door which also has nightly shows many restaurants, water parks, tennis, basketball, golf course, little trolley that transports you around the two resorts that total over 800 acres. Plenty of room, plenty of lounges on the beach. Good food selection, the 7 Ala cart restaurants are upscale, require upscale causal wear.

Place is Gorgeous but..

The place is beautiful, but its not so much "All Inclusive" as it may say.. so don't believe everything you read on expedia they are false advertising some amenities. Room Service is NOT Included. Certain Restaurants are NOT Included. Certain Alcoholic beverages are NOT Included. Most if not all sports related activities you need to pay for. For an "All Inclusive" there are many price tags on things making the trip discouraging. The rooms are very outdated, but youll rarely be in it. Besides that, the staff is excellent, they know how to keep you occupied during the day and night with entertainment. The resturants are the best to eat at, suggest to book when you arrive because they get filled fast. Buffet is not so good but theres plenty of options to find something you'll like. Overall, we went for 7nights 8days, we made the best of our trip dispite some disppointments and had a blast. I would come back just because of the staff, otherwise improvements are needed to compete with other All Inclusives

Nice hotel close to beach.

Pros: Proximity to beach, pool, and other amenities from room. Nice separation between Adults Only and Family resort facilities.
Cons: Not much in the way of pool activities in PM. Not a concern of mine but many other guests indicated they would have liked to seen more activity.
Location: Golf course was part of the complex, played 18 holes, great lay out. Did not leave facility.
I always look at other posted reviews before I book a resort, I disregard 5 star and 1 star posts and concentrate on those in the middle for accurate perceptions. Previous reviews were spot on for Barcelo Bavaro Beach - Adults Only. The rooms are outdated but clean and comfortable. WIFI was slow, but I'm on vacation, the beach was fabulous, pool areas wonderful, food acceptable, amenities good, language barrier can be a problem but staff was very accommodating. My wife and I are not high maintenance vacationers, we want a clean room, great beach, good pool, decent food, and to be treated kindly by staff. Barcelo Bavaro Beach - Adults Only, met all of our expectations.

Rooms and buffets could be a bit better. I've been to a few all inclusive hotels and have found them to be better than this. The buffet food was just ok and could be cold or seem not fresh. And the rooms were fine but just a little smaller than others I've been in. And the showers were small.

Nice hotel close to the beach

We walked to the beach in 400 feet from our room. Loved sitting on the patio in the morning listening to the waves. The Italian, French and Japanese restaurants were our favorites for dinner. We had a wonderful time on the excursion to the cocoa plantation and Monkeyland. The monkeys are so soft and delicate. Great experience!

Ok place to stay. Prob won't return.

The Bathroom in our room needed updated big time, The housekeepers did not do a good job of restocking the rooms or cleaning them. The pools are not open after 8pm. Dinners at the restaurants took forever to get thru every night (slow service).

What a great trip!

Pros: The hotel is right on the beach. Some resorts you have to walk 10 min plus through the resort to get to the beach. Our rooms were steps away.
Cons: Nothing everything was great
Location: You can just sit at pool or beach or steps away were tons of tours and activities
We were in the adult side, much quieter than the Palace side. Fantastic beach. Soft sand, no shells, clean and tons of palm trees. With access to the Palace side you had tons of options for restaurants. We upgraded to the Premium level, definitely worth it. Request building #6 it is right on the beach. Request 3rd level for the best ocean views. Staff was friendly. I have been to several all inclusive and this is right in line with its cost. I would definitely come back. Adult side is much quieter, Palace side is like Disney land. Defiantly go to the spa for the water treatments afterwards you can lay out at the spa pool which is very nice.Only wish....they had bar service on the beach but the bars are just steps away. Only negative was lawn workers in the morning were talking loud outside our room every day while they worked.

Great experience.

We had a great 4 night stay at the Adults Only. The quite setting of the Adults Only with access to the Palace is a perfect combination. Our only complaint of the whole trip was that our package included a "golf voucher". Under the expectation that we would have around of golf comped, we were disappointed in not only the lack of voucher, but also the poor explanation of the details by the staff. Other than that, a beautiful hotel and a nice break from the cold weather.
