The accommodation was beautiful and immaculate and felt like a calm and peaceful haven after a day of touring. Excellent location however would recommend a car for ease of getting to the nearby towns. Beautiful breakfasts with some delicious home made sweet treats every morning. Top Porticato Hotel Reviews

Hotel Bel Soggiorno

8/10 Good

"Overall great stay. Would have given 5 stars if air conditioner did not make noise at night and was dripping water in the room. Also a bit surprised that they charged us for water provided by the maid service."

Hotel Isola Bella

10/10 Excellent

"It's old, the rooms are small, the shower was tiny, and there's no parking, but that's really all you can say against Hotel Isola Bella. The location is fantastic, especially if you have a sea view - the sunrises are spectacular! Staff were super helpful (and generous with the after-hours wine!) The buffet breakfast was plentiful and cheap. We didn't use the pool. A good, very affordable Hotel."

Hellenia Yachting Hotel

8/10 Good

"⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Value, Convenient Location, but Room for Improvement The Hellenia Yachting Hotel offers good value, especially if you’re driving and looking for a convenient base to explore Taormina and the surrounding area. There’s a convenience store and a great gelato shop nearby, although you’ll need to drive to reach the main beach area. The hotel has an impressive marble interior, though the decor is somewhat dated. My room was spacious with a comfortable bed, but cleanliness could have been better, and there was a faint odor. As mentioned in other reviews, the buzzer system allowing people in and out can be noisy. I slept fine with earplugs, but light sleepers may find it bothersome. Since I visited after beach season, the beach chairs had been removed, but I still enjoyed some sunshine on a lounge chair on the outdoor deck overlooking the ocean. Parking was convenient, although it was essentially a dirt lot, and I had to contact someone each time I entered or exited. Breakfast was good, not great, but convenient with a three-hour window each morning. The staff were helpful, though I’ve experienced friendlier service elsewhere in Sicily. Overall, a comfortable stay in a good location at a reasonable price. Improvements in cleanliness, noise, and facilities would help, but considering the value, I’m giving it a generous four stars."

Grand Hotel San Pietro Taormina - Preferred Hotels & Resorts

10/10 Excellent

"We would give this hotel 6* if it was possible. Everything from check in to check out was fantastic. The hotel and their staff are of the highest quality yet remain friendly, warm and welcoming. We came for our honeymoon and had the most wonderful time. We used the spa, ate at the restaurant, drank at the bar and were transported by the valets. Everything was perfect. We will be back. Grazie mille from David and Adam."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Porticato?

The best area to stay in Porticato is the historic centre, particularly around Piazza Duomo and the surrounding streets.

This neighbourhood is the heart of Porticato, characterised by its narrow, winding lanes, Baroque architecture, and vibrant local life. You'll find many independent shops, traditional trattorias, and charming cafes concentrated around the main square and along Via Vittorio Emanuele. It's very walkable, making it easy to explore on foot.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find the historic centre ideal. The evenings here are particularly special, with the illuminated cathedral providing a stunning backdrop for dinner or a leisurely stroll. Many of the boutique hotels in this area offer rooftop terraces with lovely views.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the convenience and atmosphere of the historic centre. With so many cafes and eateries, it's easy to find a spot to relax and people-watch.

When is the best time to go to Porticato?

The best time to go to Porticato is during the shoulder seasons of May-June and September-October.

These months offer pleasant weather with warm, sunny days and comfortable evenings, superb for exploring the town and its surroundings without the intense heat or larger crowds of mid-summer. You'll find the sea warm enough for swimming, and outdoor dining is a real pleasure. This period is ideal for couples looking for a romantic escape, as the fewer crowds allow for a more intimate experience at attractions like the Greek Theatre and along the Corso Umberto.

Families travelling with children might also find these months more comfortable than the peak summer. The slightly milder temperatures make activities like visiting the beaches or exploring the ancient ruins more enjoyable for everyone.
