The room had plenty of space and the balcony and seabird were great. We found the breakfast quality to be good and varied and loved the pool ( big enough to swim in properly and not too busy). Yes the hotel is down or up a steep drive depending which way you approach and driving through Taormina isn’t easy ( narrow streets and people everywhere) but the town is beautiful and the hotel was in a great location - easy walk to restaurants. The hotel itself is unique built into the cliff and the views are breathtaking. The pool is clean is spacious and always had sun loungers available. Our room was fairly basic but it was extremely clean! The front desk could be a little bit more friendly, but overall the staff across the hotel were fine. Be aware that the hotel does not offer an iron or ironing board, which was pretty inconvenient. Like several other reviews mention — and I can confirm — this hotel is sadly neglected and in a miserable state: broken shower door, ripped-off moldings, broken sun loungers, etc. The list is long! Cleanliness is poor: I found someone else's hair on the sink counter and on my bed at check-in. Old band-aids lay around the pool area for two days. A half-eaten, rotting apple was decomposing among the flowers on the room balcony. The balconies are filthy, the public toilets are dirty — and on and on. It’s a shame, because the location is good and the view is beautiful, but everything else shows a blatant lack of care — especially for the price. The internet doesn’t work — the Wi-Fi is extremely slow. I emailed them before my arrival to organize my trip and an excursion, and they took more than 10 days to reply — an unreasonable delay for customer service. Getting to the hotel is dangerous, with a steep slope and a 180-degree turn. At least they offer valet parking for €30 per night. I chose this hotel last minute because it was the only one available with a room for three people.
