Old Bank Hotel

"First class hotel, with unadvertised attractions"
The Old Bank is a superb and truly first class hotel. It has a wonderful location right in the middle of High Street, an easy walk from all the main points of interest in Oxford. You can walk anywhere – and in Oxford, that is essential, given the near impossibility of using cars. Very comfortable, excellent service, and worth every penny. Very helpful staff. Tip - the excellent full English breakfast is more expensive than other items, but includes a very wide range of extra choices. Superb value. One thing you might not realize before you walk through the door is that the hotel has a cosmic collection of twentieth century and contemporary British art scattered all around, certainly of top class museum quality. The same is also true of the Old Parsonage, which is owned by the same people. If you took all the art in the two hotels and combined them under one specialized exhibition space you would have a major national attraction – and there they are, gazing down at you while you are eating breakfast! My one complaint is that they don’t have a printed guide of some kind to these paintings. A lovely experience.

"Nice hotel once all the refurbishment is finished"
After a lovely day in Oxford we retired to our room, where I required the bathroom went lift the toilet seat which fell off bathroom very small compared to the size of room, we decided to have a siesta where we found one curtain off the track at the end however enough curtain to accommodate the drawing were we had a well earned rest. Overall the room was light airy quiet quite away from reception if you had walking issues overall a pleasant stay.

"good quiet position yet close to everything. "
This is a lovely hotel which is near the Thames in a lovely quiet setting, yet close enough to walk to Oxford Centre. Although they were having some refurbishment done and the temporary reception was quite small, this did not detract from our stay and the lovely hotel that it is. Would definitely stay here again.

"Great rooms, hard to check in."
We were very pleased with the condition, location, and amenities of this hotel. The rooms were roomy and clean and came with complementary beer and still water (as well as the usual tea & coffee). It is on the river, at the end of a main street, and next to Christ Church green. Breakfast was fantastic and varied enough for our picky eater. However, it was not clear where we should check in and we standed at the bar for quite a while before we caught someone's attention. Check out was similar. A simple sign and bell would help.

"Location, Location, Location"
The Royal Oxford is just about as convenient as it gets. A two minute walk to the railway station, or a 10 minute walk to the centre of town, its location cannot be surpassed. That being said, it's not the "W". However, it's clean, the staff is friendly, and frankly, it's a bargain considering it's convenience (it's also right next door to the Said School of Business). Our room was clean, rather spacious and comfy. The only downside, there is no lift (elevator). Be prepared to use the stairs. Overall, it easily exceeded expectations.

"Convenient hotel for sightseeing"
The hotel is within easy walking distance of Oxford town centre and colleges. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was excellent. We had a good electric shower but we did find that the towels didn't dry.
