Just back from a few days staying at the De Vere, Sandford on Thames. Excellent hotel, comfy deluxe double, delicious breakfast with great choice of food. Helpful staff on reception suggested taking the bus, from just outside the hotel, in to Oxford. 15 mins and we were in the heart of the city. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Extremely disappointed with this hotel. The heating system was not working properly, our room was cold the entire time we stayed there. We were given a fanheater for our room but it was not really ideal given the low temperatures we had during the weekend. I had a treatment booked at the spa, again staff were using a fanheater to warm the room as it was really cold. I expected a variety of food items for breakfast but this wasn't the case, the breakfast range was very limited-no fresh fruits...

Swift check in. The best full body massage ever! Thank you Imogen. Room clean, comfy, soft towels, good quality wash products, good quality biscuits & soft gowns. Hotel wifi and phone reception very very poor. Evening meal from Bar- simply fantastic: main and dessert. However, disappointed the website still had previous menu showing and I was really looking forward to the Indian veggie option and cheese cake, but of course that menu had been withdrawn. Our room in the square block (we’d seen the unnecessary negative reviews before we’d arrived) behind the pretty white main house, came as a very pleasant surprise. The room was newly furnished, to a high standard and spotlessly clean. Positive feedback….great for one night, but a little more storage or even a couple more wall hooks to pop coats and hang towels etc are needed. The hut was very clean and comfortable and suited the four of us perfectly. We also appreciated the fact that there were only two other huts in the field and there was space between them. Despite arriving quite late our hostess met us and made sure everything was ok. The swimming pond is a wonderful bonus and we would definitely return. Thank you!

What a lovely cosy shepherd's hut in a quiet field with 2 other huts well spaced apart. I never heard any of the other guests. It was perfect as a little hideaway to relax after working in the area. Very clean.

I couldn't make one single negative comment about this place, it was fantastic. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the hosts were warm and welcoming, the breakfasts were first rate and the pool was a great bonus. The views in every direction were stunning.

The pool was osed for the season but the stay was great, lovely location,clean and tidy and very well presented.

This is a unique and characteristic hotel with lots of history and amazing architecture. The scenery, gardens and the estate overall are simply gorgeous. The spa and the outdoor pool area is also very nice especially in good weather (it may be difficult to find a lounger when it is sunny though). The room I stayed in was nicely decorated with wood panellings and period furnitures; bed was very comfortable as well. Welcomed perfectly on arrival by a most informative and friendly 'butler' Room superb and great views of the grounds Bar was excellent and the many living rooms and library are excellent to enjoy and read in The grounds are outstanding and very well looked after Breakfast superb and complimentary cooked food for menu was done very well Coffee service to the room also very good
