We arrived at our stated check in time of 2pm, but were told the room was not yet ready, and that they needed 10 more minutes. Nearly an hour later, and they still weren't ready. We were (eventually) offered a free drink, although their on-tap lemonade was very watery and bland, clearly incorrectly mixed. The hotel seemed entirely staffed by sixth formers.
We made use of the pool facilities whilst we continued waiting. These were fine, although the changing rooms were rather cramped and the lockers had no indication of how they worked. The sauna and steam room were pleasant.
2 hours later than planned, we were able to check into our room. The building wasn't the nice white manor house depicted, but a brutalist annex which looked very tired. Rooms themselves were fine and clean, although there were a few dozen ladybirds which had made their way through gaps in the windows, which wasn't overly pleasant. Bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice.
Overall, it did the job for an overnight stay. The arrival process was a bit of a shambles though, and it felt a bit overpriced.
