"The location was in a prime location. Many restaurants directly across the street. The breakfast offering was very generous with many choices and very good. The rooms were spacious but no a/c in room could make it for some sticky nights. Be aware a/c is available throughout the hotel but not in the rooms. Room was very clean and bed was comfortable. Certainly a good option if location is your focus."

"Overall a disappointing experience. Only nice thing was the convenient location. When we arrived with 3 heavy bags, the lift to carry the bags up was broken. So we were forced to carry them up the stairs. We found that the sheets we slept on gave us itchy skin and receptionist told us the sheets are only replaced once every 4 days."

"Property is located at the bottom of castle hill. Very good location but a lot of steps up to get to the Royal Mile where the main attractions are located. Note that the hotel does not have AC in the rooms. However, they provide a fan that does help. My guess is that normally this is not a problem, however, during our visit, the UK was experiencing a heat wave! Enjoyed the pool tremendously! All in all, very satisfied with our stay 😀"

"The room was in a tired condition. The bed didn’t stay in an upright position and the lock strap on the window was torn out, reception were informed, it neither were fixed in the 5 days we were there. The towel warmer didn’t work, the clothes dryer was too rusty to use, the bathroom light flickered on/off. Overall the rooms felt tired and the maintenance and presentation of the room was lacking. The small kitchen was a bonus, but a lack of utensils and no standard items like salt and pepper made it almost impossible to make anything."

"The Edinburgh Royal was in a great location for seeing the sights. Getting there from the airport by bus was easy, with a stop less a block away. The hotel staff were helpful and welcoming, and the rooms were fresh and contemporary, and had comfy beds and pillows. The complimentary coffee bar and relaxed seating in the lobby provided a great place to rest and watch the world go by before heading back out to explore Edinburgh."

"An historic building, convenient to everything on the Royal Mile. Also its lower level entry is super convenient to arrival from the train station, literally across an uncrowded Market Street. Wonderful rooms with sunlight, tastefully appointed. The timely limited access will soon be fixed by a second elevator being installed in the hotel. The staff was always helpful (though the laundry lost two of my dress shirts). I enjoyed my stay immensely."
