Best Western Wakulla Inn & Suites

10/10 Excellent

"Great place to stay."

The Lodge at Wakulla Springs

8/10 Good

"It was a nice diversion from a traditional hotel experience. The staff was great in every interaction we had with them. Front desk, dining room staff, housekeeping, maintenance staff. No exceptions - they were all friendly, considerate and helpful. The room was comfortable - warning: no TV, no microwave, no refrigerator. The AC minimum was set to 69. The dining room had great food - warning: don't get the vegetable medley. The boat tour was enjoyable and surprisingly affordable. There were rental bikes, but not a lot of area to ride unless you want to pedal in wooded trails. Close proximity to Tallahassee and St. Mark's refuge. Overall it was a nice, out of the ordinary experience."

Hideaway Beach Cottage on waterfront with amazing views.

10/10 Excellent

"If you are thinking of booking this home I would definitely recommend it. IF you have never been to the "forgotten coast" of Florida it is an experience like no other. You have the beautiful weather and scenery and water but without any of the traffic. there was literally no one in town or on any of the roads. We went to the beach and we were the only people on the beach, it was like our own private beach. The home is very cozy and has everything you need. You are not going to spend much time inside anyway. I contacted the host Agnes the day before checking in and she responded within 2 minutes. We had no problems at all and everything in the home is as the pictures represent. The view on the river is amazing and there are many great places to go. If you are looking to get away and have total relaxation this is the place to go. IF you are looking to go out to do more tourist type things like mini golf, restuarants, and so on then this is not your place to visit. We took this vacation to get a rest from running our business. It was several days of total paradise and peace. If you are looking for the most peaceful relaxing vacation ever then book this place."

Escape the Crowds: Quiet Beachfront Home + Fantastic Rates

10/10 Excellent

"We enjoyed our stay here so much and we were very sad to go! The place was AMAZING! It is family friendly and pet friendly. The beach and ocean are right where you can see them and easy to access. Utilize the outdoor shower to helo with sand tracking in and out. The laundry room is located down stairs next to the outdoor shower. Bring extra big spray!!! The flies bite pretty good right before a rain. We aren't a super wealthy family so our main chunk of money went to the house so we cooked everything at the house. The trash service runs once a week so it was a tight squeeze for 6 people for a whole week but we made it work! There are beautiful views and breathtaking sunrises and you can sit on the deck or in the living room and see it because of the massive windows in the living room! When the tide goes out at night you can go explore and find all kinds of creatures in thw shallows. Wear sunscreen! And we made sure to have hats on and that helped alot! Overall we highly recommend this place and it is private as well. It was well worth the money and it was a wonderful experience!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Ochlockonee Bay?

The best time to go to Ochlockonee Bay is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months.

These periods offer the most pleasant weather, with comfortable temperatures and less humidity, making outdoor activities like fishing, kayaking, and exploring the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge particularly enjoyable. The waters are still warm enough for swimming, and there are fewer crowds compared to the peak summer season.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate the serene atmosphere during these shoulder seasons. You can enjoy quiet strolls along the beaches, dine at local seafood restaurants without long waits, and experience the natural beauty of the area at a more leisurely pace.

Families might find late spring or early autumn ideal as well, especially if travelling with younger children. The milder temperatures are superb for spending time at the beach or visiting nearby attractions without the intense heat of summer.
