I spent quite a while looking for the best combination of location, reviews, appearance, price and convenience and must confess to having been a little sceptical of the high scores I found at such a modest cost. But I found that they are totally justified. I received an upgrade on arrival and my hosts could not have been more helpful, giving me information about places worth visiting, local transport and options of where to eat etc.

breakfast was amazing each morning my husband especially loved the Scottish breakfast and I tried it as well and to my surprise loved haggis when I had it in England I didn't like it but loved it on your Scottish breakfast.
the coffee was lush and the breakfast set us up for the day.

We stayed in the lodge. Everything was very nice. Room was nice and tidy. Really appreciated the lovely sherry after a 4 hour drive. Bed was comfortable. The cooked to order breakfast in the morning was fantastic. Hotel location is very convenient to getting into town centre. You can catch a but right outside the hotel and buses run regularly until very late. Wold definitely recommend and would stay here again.

The property was well located in proximity to the centre. The parking was good right outside the property. The room was spacious, clean and well appointed.
On arrival I was greeted by the owner who was very approachable and helpful during my stay. Definitely visiting again.

As a student, the price for this guest house was pretty ideal. The guest house is beautiful and in an easily accessible place along a main road. This means a bit of road traffic can be heard from the guest house, but it's rather faint. The rooms were well stocked with towels, blankets and tea. And the beds--so comfy! Best of all, in my experience, were the guest house owners. They were absolutely amiable and helpful, calling a taxi for us when needed, and giving travel advice for public...

We stayed in December, and the hotel was simply delightful. We have a deluxe room which comes with an ensuite shower room but in fact we made use of the shared bathroom next door which has a huge bath tub with very hot water. The room was beautiful and very comfortable. There is no flat-packed furniture, and everything suits the style of a Victorian townhouse. The bed had mattress comforters that made it very comfortable. I suffer from a bad back so it was really wonderful to find a hotel with a...

I can't fault the hotel, the staff, the bar, the food or the price.
Staff were young but knowledgable. Food was simple but delicious. The bar had inventive twists on drinks (Negronis with port replacing Martini Rosso? A hot chocolate with Remy Martin?)
If you're looking for a hotel that is bang in the centre of Edinburgh, look elsewhere. This is in the beautiful area of Stockbridge, 20min walk or 5 min bus ride from Princes St.
We'll stay here again. Loved it.

We stayed here to celebrate my husbands special birthday. From the moment we drove up and saw the impressive ship we knew we were in for a special treat. Everything about this place is incredible. The staff were so helpful and very welcoming.
You helped make my husbands birthday treat a very special memory.
Thank you !

This was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the Townhouse Suite which was larger than our London flat! By far the best value for money we have ever got from a hotel room. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The onsite "honesty shop" was also very well stocked with a range of food and drinks with a lovely lounge area to enjoy them in. We have already booked this hotel again for our next trip to Edinburgh.

Newington is known for being walkable and economical with many neighborhood options for restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. The neighborhood's festivals and college atmosphere are just a couple of its charming qualities. Broaden your horizons with some local theater. Start by booking your hotel in Newington, and then enjoy the sights in the greater Edinburgh area.
Sightseeing around Newington
The museums and theaters provide some cultural flavor, while the monuments and historic sites offer insight into local lore. Stroll the halls at Surgeon's Hall, Talbot Rice Gallery, or National Museum of Scotland. You can check out the local talent at Queen's Hall, Festival Theatre, and King's Theatre. Swing by John Knox House, Real Mary King's Close, and Gladstone's Land to learn about local history. Notable landmarks include George Square, Greyfriar's Bobby, and Greyfriars Kirk. Take a tour of campus around University of Edinburgh, Royal Scottish Academy Art Gallery, or Napier University. Royal Commonwealth Pool, Our Dynamic Earth, and Omni Centre Edinburgh are family favorites.
Many visitors like to do some shopping while in town, but there are a number of other activities. Local parks like Holyrood Park, The Meadows, and Arthur's Seat are peaceful spots. If you have some more time, pay a visit to Carlton Cricket Club, Geoffrey Kiltmakers and Weavers, or Princes Mall.
A few of the most popular sights in the area include Palace of Holyroodhouse, St. Giles' Cathedral, and Edinburgh Castle. You can also head to People's Story Museum, Brass Rubbing Centre, and Museum of Childhood.
