Very well positioned hotel close to the A1

Posted 12-Feb-2017
Pros: Atmosphere, staff, food, value for money
Cons: Very little
Location: Close to Alnwick. Amble, Alnmouth, Craster, Seahouses and Holy Island
Staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for us. Food also excellent - very good value and a brilliant choice of dishes. Located in a great area for tourist attractions and also very easy to find. .

We really enjoyed our stay at The Cook and Barker Inn. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We ate in the restaurant both evenings and had excellent service and meals. The breakfast was also well cooked with a varied choice. Would certainly return if visiting the area.

Nice overnight stop.

Comfortable, very nice people and good food. Contrary to other reviews, we did not think the food was expensive at all. However, we are comparing prices in the South of England.

A very friendly reception on arrival and a very helpful receptionist who made me feel very welcome. The room was spacious and comfortable, however the lighting was bizarre!! There was no bedside light and no overhead light, but a light under the curtain rail!! I couldn't fathom this out! The restaurant looked very pleasant, so I was a little disappointed that I wasn't staying longer and able to sample the menu

Close to A1 -ideal base for coast and Hadrians Wal

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: Excellent position close to A1 and friendly staff
Cons: Menu could have a "light salads " option although bar meals were available ((still substantial for the hungry traveller. No bar of soap in room
Location: Alnwick castle and other houses and castles) and Hadrians Wall plus beaches all within 2 hours driving disatnce
Easy to find although satnav helped.Friendly reception from very efficient staff .Excellent food with ample portions.Room 12 is due for refurbishment next within their rolling programme of redecoration. Ideal for one night or seven.Recommended by 2 senior citizens!
