Close to A1 -ideal base for coast and Hadrians Wal

Posted 27-Sep-2016
Pros: Excellent position close to A1 and friendly staff
Cons: Menu could have a "light salads " option although bar meals were available ((still substantial for the hungry traveller. No bar of soap in room
Location: Alnwick castle and other houses and castles) and Hadrians Wall plus beaches all within 2 hours driving disatnce
Easy to find although satnav helped.Friendly reception from very efficient staff .Excellent food with ample portions.Room 12 is due for refurbishment next within their rolling programme of redecoration. Ideal for one night or seven.Recommended by 2 senior citizens!

Unfriendly staff and poorly cleaned

Posted 09-Sep-2016
Pros: Location
Cons: Better quality of staff
Location: Good location easy access to main attractions
Total experience ruined by unfriendly staff member who could have not made us feel less welcome if she had tried. Cleaning of rooms was perfunctory. One to be avoided if possible.

A gem of a place

Posted 28-Aug-2016
Pros: Its location, and it really had a buzz about it in the evenings
Cons: The room TV only had a few usable channels, Free-net would have been better!
Location: Easily found using sat-nav. We visited Morpeth, Alnwick and NT Cragside, but you are also close to Hadrians Wall, and the East coast.
Welcome was great, room had everything we wanted, breakfasts were very good, all in all this is a place to come back to. We really enjoyed our trip.........dinner was a bit pricey though!

Fabulous base

Posted 24-Aug-2016
Pros: Friendliness of staff. Fabulous restaurant
Cons: Freshen up the rooms, nothing major just cosmetic.
Location: Caters for all tastes Alnwick(+ castle), Holy Is, Farne Is, Cragside, Beamish and many more
Great area for all sorts of excursions(Holy Island, Beamish, Cragside, Farne Is etc) and this inn acts as great base. Rooms are clean and comfortable, although the rooms block could do with freshening up. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is fab, so have a beer or two and sit back and enjoy local sourced food at its best. Second visit here and it won't be the last

Pros: Good location for travelling by car. Facilities excellent.
Cons: No
Location: Location excellent. Good to travel by car to other areas but walking not too good due to lighting on lanes.
Nice welcome. Easy booking in, really relaxes. Nothing too much trouble. Staff excellent, knowledgable and really friendly. Enjoyed the food choices, nice ales and restaurant. Can't fault anything.

very pleasant

Posted 11-Aug-2016
Pros: The big plus was the evening meal in the restaurant. Very reasonable as they had a special deal on. And the food was very good with plenty of choices
Location: Alnwick castle and gardens and definetly Craigside house that was built by William Armstrong. Lots to see and do.
The hotel was fine - the inside door knob on the bathroom door fell off . - easily fixed but could have been worrying for an old person on their own. There could have been more lights in the room . One light on the dresser wasn't enough . One on the bedside table would have been ideal - to be able to read and get out of bed . Apart from that all was ok.
