The Golden Lion Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"As a last minute booking I was pleasantly surprised. On arrival the staff were polite and helpful. Checking in was quick and although I had a small single room it was clean and cosy with a kettle tea and coffee. Evening meal and breakfast were excellent and served with a smile. There is limited parking at the hotel but ample street parking. I will happily stay there again *****"

"THis is a beautiful Victorian property just up the hill out of the bustling center of Keswick - about a 15 minute walk. Lovingly family run - our hosts were charming and super helpful. Delicious breakfast, comfy beds, and a hot shower. We hope to return."

"Most rooms are accessed by narrow staircase. Would be very difficult for mobility challenged person. Location is isolated. Staff and food were excellent."

"The staff were friendly and approachable while remaining professional. We have a dog so were given a ground floor room with a door direct to the courtyard. Dogs are not allowed in the dining room. However, staff were happy to serve our breakfast in the bar area so our dog could stay with us, rather than be put in the car. Food and bar prices were easily comparable with outside pubs etc. Good sized, comfortable bed plus sofa and easy chair. Easy manageable heating. A 2 minute walk to the beach. Very windy during our stay but still pleasant. Plenty of parking. A very enjoyable 2-night stay."

"Very friendly and professional staff, room clean. The only fault if you do not have own transport it was impossible to get a taxi also this meant you had to eat at the services which can be expensive."

"Breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Property is in need of some TLC, and could be an excellent venue. Gardens in need of de-weeding and some cutting back on trees, brambles etc."

"For us it was very much a functional pit-stop that was good value for money compared to the increasingly expensive competition. The hotel and room is fairly tired & basic but was quiet and what we needed."
