Seacote Hotel

Seacote Hotel
3.0 star property
St Bees
8.6 out of 10, Excellent, (630 reviews)
"The hotel is showing its age, but is quite clean. Room was good but basic, the room heat control was difficult, had to contact the front desk where they promptly turned on the electricricity. The room got cold at night and I tried to get the heat to work with no success, but then at 05:20 the heat came on magically. I assume they have the heat control on timer to save energy. The very large unheated outdoor pool was good but swimming would be difficult with all the large waves."

Frequently asked questions

How much does a budget hotel in Seaton cost?
Budget hotel prices in Seaton vary, but you can find a great deal from £45 on Expedia. To find the cheapest budget hotels, be flexible with your dates—typically, off-peak and mid-week stays are cheaper. Stretch your budget further by looking for hotels with free breakfast, free parking or free airport shuttles. Sort your search results by "Price: low to high" to see our lowest rates.
Which area of Seaton is best to stay in for cheap hotels?
For cheap hotels in Seaton, budget-conscious travellers should focus on the town centre and areas slightly set back from the immediate seafront, where you'll often find better value. These locations still offer convenient access to the beach and local amenities without the premium price tag of a direct sea view.

Solo travellers will find the town centre particularly appealing, as it places them within easy walking distance of local shops, eateries, and bus stops for exploring the wider Jurassic Coast. Many smaller guesthouses and B&Bs, often more affordable than larger hotels, are located in the streets just behind the main esplanade.

Couples looking for a quiet stay could consider accommodations a few streets inland from the main thoroughfare, perhaps near Beer Road or Colyford Road. These areas tend to be residential and offer a more peaceful atmosphere while still being only a short stroll from the beach and the attractions like the Seaton Tramway terminus.
When is the most affordable time to visit Seaton?
The most affordable time to visit Seaton is typically during the shoulder seasons, specifically late spring (May and early June) and early autumn (September and early October). During these periods, you'll find that accommodation prices and travel costs are generally lower than in the peak summer months.

For solo travellers, these shoulder seasons offer a quieter experience, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty of the Jurassic Coast without the bustling crowds. You can take advantage of off-peak rates for guesthouses and bed and breakfasts, and many local eateries might offer special deals before or after the main tourist rush. The weather is often pleasant enough for coastal walks along the South West Coast Path, and attractions like the Seaton Tramway are still fully operational.

Families looking to save money will also benefit from visiting outside of the school holidays. You can often secure better deals on self-catering cottages or larger accommodations, and there's more availability for popular activities.
Is Seaton a budget-friendly destination?
Yes, Seaton is a budget-friendly destination, particularly for those seeking a charming coastal getaway without breaking the bank.

For families, couples, and solo travellers, Seaton offers a wealth of free and low-cost activities. The town's shingle beach is superb for a day of rock pooling and enjoying the seaside, and the South West Coast Path provides miles of stunning walks with incredible cliff-top views, all completely free. Exploring the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a major draw and costs nothing to admire.

Accommodation options in Seaton tend to be more affordable than in larger, more well-known coastal resorts. You'll find a good selection of guesthouses, self-catering cottages, and caravan parks that offer excellent value. Dining out can also be budget-friendly, especially if you opt for local fish and chip shops or cafes, many of which offer good value meals. For those looking to self-cater, there are local supermarkets for stocking up on supplies.

Public transport around the area, including local bus services, can help you explore nearby towns like Beer and Lyme Regis without the need for a car, although Seaton itself is very walkable. The Seaton Tramway, while not free, offers a unique and enjoyable way to see the Axe Valley at a reasonable cost.

Another fantastic free option is to wander through the Seaton Wetlands Nature Reserve. This tranquil haven is home to diverse birdlife and offers several well-maintained walking trails, bird hides, and information boards, making it an engaging experience for nature lovers without any cost.
Is it cheaper to book flights and a hotel in Seaton as a package?

However, savings vary depending on factors like destination, travel dates, and availability, so it's wise to compare options.
