"Great location, but the budget room (no 3) was small and stuffy, the floor was not stable, I didn't sleep a wink, had to have the window open for fresh air and then the kitchen fans started up and are very noisy. My business partner paid an extra £20 and his room was lovely. "

I came at the time I had given but felt I was an inconvenience as the staff told me I only had so long, not to sit a certain tables. "Beautiful boutique hotel. Hard to know where to start, property itself is stunning, decor in all areas is excellent. On arrival reception staff were very welcoming and informative. Rooms are large and very comfortable. Bar is good, prices reasonable and excellent choice. Spa is well appointed. Fantastic evening meal in Blok restaurant, food superb, staff attentive, informative and friendly. Breakfast also very good, again staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Overall, an outstanding place for a couple to take a relaxing break"

"Noisy - Drill/construction noises began at 7am from floor above which we were not warned about. Dated room. Strand of hair in the sink. Otherwise, friendly staff and nice location. Convenient carpark nearby and right outside train station. "

"Enjoyed 1 night at The Bear Hotel and found it to be extremely welcoming and comfortable. Greeted with a warm smile and a friendly face. Happy to change our room without any fuss or incovenience. Had a good quality meal in the restaurant. Food was tasty and the staff here also happy and efficient. We loved the location and would definitely stay again if in the area. Thank you."

"The room was clean, the bed was comfy and it was reasonably quiet, and very conveniently sited, which was all we needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful too. If you're after something more fancy this will not be for you, but if you just want a solid place to sleep then it's a good choice."

"Tired and dated hotel. Biggest concern was our room had a door linked to the next room which was not safe. The lock on our side did not engage properly and could have been pushed open with very little force from the room next door. In the middle of the night about 2am I was wakened by the person in the adjoining room opening their door and I thought they were trying to get into our room. As a result I did not sleep well. I reported this at reception before we left so I hope the matter is resolved."
