Everything was well-run and the staff were all welcoming and hospitable. The shared bathrooms and showers were in great shape and always clean. Our only “complaint” was really just a suggestion: air hand dryers in the bathrooms instead of paper towels. The paper towels were above average in quality and we appreciated that, but we felt hand dryers might be more ecological. Overall, a great value for the money and well organized.

Good place but hot during the heat season
It is a fair experience, given the cost of the hostel. It would be nicer though if they had considered putting a fan inside the rooms during heat seasons.
You’ll need 2Fr coin btw to use their storage locker but you’ll get it back anyway.

Booked on a Quad Room with the 2-bunk beds, shared T&B on Aug 16-19,2023. Just very warm on summer days thus we opened the windows while on beds just to get fresh air. Around 8mins walk to local bus stop, 8-10mins going to the Centre. Breakfast included and good enough to start your day. You have to pay extra for towel at €3.00 each however linens are free. Warm Receptions a plus yet up to 7pm only.

It was my first hostel experience, and my only complaint is I did not know they had a laundry service until I left, I wish they advertised this somewhere, because I took the bus to do laundry. I also wish that they had fans for the room. Other than that the stay was perfect, and convenient

After spending my youth going through hostels, i wasnt expecting much, since prices in switzerland are generally very high, but we were very pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. Only downside is no ac in the room ans it was quite warm. But the windows openes (no screen) so it worked. Bathroom facilities were top notch.

Stayed in a private 2bd room so it seemed more like a regular hotel (compared to dorm room hostel) with shared bathroom facilities. It was clean and although it's called Youth Hostel, there were older people and families as well (I imagine because Switzerland is expensive this is a good way to save a few bucks). Stayed on a weekend and the noise levels were totally fine. Parking was super easy and cheap. The bus straight in to town is only about a 5 minute walk away and they give you a free bus pass as well.

Avoid if you value sleep
Dreadful place. Bare walls and floors, the absence of soft furnishings etc meant that it was noisy above my room, in the corridor and next door up to midnight and from 6am next day. Rooms are like clean and tidy cells with not one spare socket or seat other than a tiny stool. Staff were very helpful - not their fault that the place is not fit to be on a hotel website. Vastly overpriced for what's on offer. Like been in a playground.

My first time at Youth, for sure this is for young student or very active people, staff are good, and same as public area. bathroom are clean. But room itself is not for family, this build right face to a road with a lot of traffic, we arrived at at day with 32C, which we could not close window, noise all night. if you want something basic with nice price, this one maybe your choice, otherwise go somewhere else.

It was a spot difficult to locate even with google maps. There is no elevator and there are very few toilets and washrooms for the number of people using it. There is no wifi in the rooms which was annoying. I wouldn’t recommend it.

Helpful staff, somewhat convenient location, good breakfast. Only drawback, internet reception went out once you got past the first two floors. Perhaps they did this because those staying in the dormitory would have to listen to any alarms or alerts going off coming from cellphones.

Overall are good
Reception open at 7 am, however, we arrived at 5am, therefore, we stay outside about 2 hours. The outside weather are very cold. However, at 7am, everything are run smoothly for checkin.

It’s a lie, there is NO WIFi, and NO SERVICE. You are in a cave! Both WiFi / Data only work downstairs in the lobby. It is very annoying having to go all the way downstairs just to send a text or google something regarding Lucerne. Also, the staff wastes your time. Be prepared to wait minutes on end just for one person, the only person, to end a phone call and finally talk to you. Or finally stop paper clipping files in the back. All this, when they KNOW you are right in front of them waiting patiently. So rude. You are their last priority. The ventilation sucks too. Maybe it was just the wind direction in our room but I doubt it. If you like being ignored, having no WiFi OR data, and baking like a potato in an oven while you sleep, this place is for you!

Great hostel!
This is a hostel not a 5-star hotel. With that said, I had an amazing time staying in the female dormitory (which happened to be empty during the time I was there! - end of October). The front desk employees were very helpful and informative. I got to rent a bike with a helmet and it wasn't too expensive. They let you rent for a half a day or a full day. Since Uber doesn't operate in Lucerne, the front end girl helped me book a taxi back to Zurich airport and got me a good rate. Breakfast was great. Nothing special just an open buffet continental breakfast which is cool. You'll notice that people check in to this hostel with different ages (even families came with kids!)

Wifi only works in the lobby. When you go to the lobby to use, there aren't any outlets to charge your things so when you can use, your things die. When I was here, there were 40 kids running around and it made it difficult to get any trip planning or vlogging done. They were running all over the place, and because wifi only works downstairs, I had no choice to crank my music and try to ignore them. If wifi worked in the rooms, this wouldn't be a problem. I would not recommend staying here if there are large groups staying. Maybe ask before booking.

Not a hotel but spent >150 Swiss Franks for one night, bathrooms and toilets across the hall, room very tiny, need to pick up and return your bed sheets etc.
