Location is excellent for visiting Lucerne, 5 minute walk from the old town and train station. Has a luxury bar at the top of the building if you’d like a cool place to drink in the evening. Only critique would be the bathroom had no toilet door which looks amazing but practically isn’t the best for privacy. All in all a great place to stay, staff were very friendly.

The pictures make the room look bigger than it is. It was very small to move around. But it was very clean. Loved that its walkable. Beds were hard but still somewhat comfortable.

The staff was friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. The breakfast was well stocked and the offerings were good not great. The hotel was a short walk from the water, town and train station. There were several restaurants close by and a nice rooftop bar. I’m not sure the hotel was worth the higher cost because nothing made it stand out from any other hotel.

Worst hotel in Europe
ACs in the room don’t work - it’s terribly hot. Hotel staff are unable to fix the problem. The ladies in the breakfast room don’t let you dine peacefully, they come to your table every 3 mins asking to clear the plate as if they have some target to get rid of guests as soon as possible. Vegetarians, please note there are no options besides fruits and one eggless bread. They don’t even keep hash browns or mashed potatoes or varieties of cheese - they only have eggs and some meat. On day 1, no housekeeping came in the room inspite of leaving the cleaning sign in front of the door. On the day of checkout, they completely invaded our privacy and since 8 am, entered our room 4 times without our consent and without us putting a sign to clean the room. Even a 1 star hotel wouldn’t do that and imagine a 4 star doing it. Housekeeping lady showed no sign of being sorry and continued to enter the room after just one knock and no reply from us. I can understand this if it was 12 PM but definitely not 8 am when guests are on holiday!!

Very clean, but soulless, a mess of a hotel - 3 former stand alone buildings knocked into one. It is a maze of staircases and difficult to navigate. Resident breakfast area is not the same as resident coach party guests - who seem to dominate the clientele. Be careful to chose the right breakfast room. Heating in the hotel is minimal. Very cold in the bedrooms at night. The hotel is set at 20 degrees and you can add 1 degree to this in your room. No extra bedding if you are cold. There are other hotel options in the same area. Only use this hotel as a last resort.

Our stay at hotel Astoria was very nice. The room was spacious and the bathroom had plenty of counter space for my cosmetics. I enjoyed the Nespresso in the room. The location was perfect. We could walk wherever we needed to in a short amount of time. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Too pricey for what it is.
It has a great location but it's not worth the price. It's fairly no-frills busunessy style hotel. The rooms don't have a proper wardrobe. The gym is so small it's not worth calling it a gym. The staff are friendly and ready to help with the basics. None of the associated restaurants and bar let you put your bill on the room number. It only has one lift that serves many floors and rooms. At breakfast you need to hold on to your plates the far too many syaff are so eager to clear away.

Advertise they have gym, but only 5 cardio machine, and one weight machine. No free weights. Anymore than 2 people, and gym would be crowded. Very disappointing.

The air conditioning does not work. I even complained at the front desk and asked for it to be fixed while we were away, but we came back to a poorly-functioning air-conditioner. The room felt extremely stuffy and had a very heavy smell. There are several other hotels closer to the train station I would recommend. The breakfast was not good. Very basic options, and one of the boiled eggs I opened was spoiled.

rooms are clean and beds are comfy. The way that showers are built can really limit your movement and are somewhat dangerous. Over the weekend there is a club on top of the building, you can hear the music up until 3 am. If you are a light sleeper do not book this hotel on those days. The setup for the breakfast is quite messy during high season.

This hotel did not seem like a 4 star hotel to me. It also didn't appear much like its pictures. It had an odd lay out, like it had been an apartment building or something else at one time. We had problems with not being able to shut the cold air off no matter the directions from the staff. The bathroom didn't have a door to it and was separated from the sleeping area only by a glass partition that let light in . My husband became sick while here and the desk was unable to help find a doctor or assist me in figuring how to get a line out to call our travel insurance.

The worst of the worse
The worst experience in my life. We booked this hotel because we thought paying north of £300 for a room would guarantee a good experience. Room was so small, no fridge and no coffee machine. What's worse, when we went for breakfast we put do not disturb sign on the door. When we returned from breakfast, surprise surprise, cleaning ladies were in full swing in our room, sign on the floor. When we complained at reception they didn't want to know. And that breakfast, wow don't get me started, I've never seen worse. Ibis budget can do better for £50 a night.

The hotel is in a great location, close to train station yet away from the hustle and bustle. I like how the hotel feel secluded the moment you enter the building. The hotel have its restaurants (although I haven’t tried them), the convenience of having them in the building is a plus. The hotel room is good size for EU, very clean, with comfortable mattress I must say! (for someone like me who’s got an achy back if mattress does not support well). Great breakfast too! Highly recommend Astoria Hotel Luzern!

Actually, when we arrived at Astoria - it was closed due to COVID and referred us to their sister hotel, Renaissance Hotel two blocks down. Our reservation was there & that's actually what I rated. Other than wishing we had known about the hotel change, we very much enjoyed our stay.
